ROLEXrifleman
Long story short.... trying to get me work shop computer going, worked fine when put away a year ago. Went to connect to my network today. Network is fine, wireless works and ports 1,2,3 for LAN connection work. I plugged into LAN socket 4 and the light FLASHES green unlike the others which are solid. go to the desktop and it says the connection is unplugged though it is plain as day connected!!! Connection is plugged in and the cable works as I tested it on another device. here's the kicker, I tried plugging it into my old as lap top and it showed as limited connectivity and I was not able to renew my IP. Toss the old dongle on the lap top and she connects to the route with no problem!! WTF! help, please!!!! Rolex you sicken me. RooTxBeeR
I would say to reinstall your device driver for the network card. tmettss
How long is the run of cat5? I believe 50 feet is about the longest you can use And still have good connection.
RooTxBeeR
How long is the run of cat5? I believe 50 feet is about the longest you can use And still have good connection. That's definitely false statement. Your telling me big ass companies that have their entire network wired with cat5 are in 50ft increments. I have a run of 100ft that runs from my modem under ground to my garage since my wifi can't go through the house and garage. When its connected I get better speeds off of that cable than my wifi. ROLEXrifleman
Jiggle rhe power cord Spoken like a true IT Guy As far as cat5 runs.......... You can go hundreds of feet. My TV's (3) are all connected to the same router via cat5 wall fished up two stories to an attic and then feed back down to them on Rj45 connectors I cut. I've got 12 runs of cat5 throughout the house and the shortest, other than this computer, is 100 feet. Rolex you sicken me. kickass audio
From what it sounds like on your computer maybe there is a wiring conflict if you made the cables yourself. Did you buy them pre-terminated or did you terminate them yourself? If you did it yourself then try to look through the plug and see what the wire color's are laid out as. I know it worked on another device but if the wire is wrong it can cause it to work if the card set it to a different speed where the faulty wires are not needed (ie 10mbps full/half do not use all 8 wires like 100mbps half/full will. And for your lights you were looking at, did you check the NIC lights on the faulty computer? One indicates it is getting a signal the other indicates the transmission/reception of packets. 2004 GMC Envoy1 XS power S3400 batt under the hood and 4 XS Power D3100's battery installed in the rear by the amps0 gauge power wire from front to backAlpine iva-w205 touchscreen dvd/cd/mp3/ipod/am/fm/gps headunitSundown Audio SAX-200.4 amp for my mids and highs8 gauge speaker wire from amp to woofer270 amp Mechman AltRockford Fosgate T1652-s component speakersRockford Fosgate 3Sixty.2 sound processorRca's from Rockford Fosgate and Monster Cable14 gauge speaker wire for the mids and highs1 18" Ascendant Audio SMD Dual 1 ohm with custom Black & Blue carbon fiber and hand signed dustcapBox: 5.66 cubic feet net volume box tuned to 30.13Hz with 1.5" wide wooden dowels and 1.5" thick baffle1 DC Audio 5.0k amp wired to .5 ohms nominal with an imp rise of 1.35 ohms for the single AA SMD 18"Future Vision 8000k 50w bi-xenon projector HID's with 4300k 35w fog lightsLink to my build: Buildupdates/progress
