darksoul187 Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 alright so I been trying everything with this 2009 Malibu i'm running a ohiogen 275amp alt, 1 XS power d4700 and two 3100's big three done my voltage is 14.9 resting full tilt im around 14-15 bouncing around I only drop to 12.9 at redlights but my damn headlights are dimming bad. anyone have thoughts on this? o yeah i'm running a DC 5k at 1ohm 2009 Malibu LTZHead Unit - Pioneer AVH-P4300DVDSubs - 2 DC Audio m2 XL 15'sAmplifier - DC 5kWire - KnukonceptzAlternator - OhioGenBatteries - 2 XS Power 3100's, 1 d4700

skittlesRgood Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 any voltage drop will make your headlights dim but I added a 1/0 wire from the battery to the fuse box. it helped a good amount but they still dimmed. to completely resolve the dimming, I added a capacitor to the wires of the headlights. one cap on each bulb. I may have to look into that i'm planning on doing HID's not sure if that would solve anything don't they run less voltage? They don't dim like conventional lamps because the gas doesn't react to small fluctuations in the supply voltage like a tungsten filament does. WastedTalent Posted August 31, 2013 Report Posted August 31, 2013 think this should be stickied somewhere as it comes up somewhat often. but... any voltage drop (I've noticed it with as little as .2V difference), will cause stock headlights to dim. way around it is try what others have said (caps) or HID's. I ran HID's on my old car and still had dimming, but they were an unknown brand as well (so unknown, i don't even remember them haha) Sheena = pedobear
