P4killer_ Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Id like some thoughts on this issue. I have bumper to bumper on my car till 105k. Extended. The transmission had always been jerky since day one. Also during the last month or two the transmission kind of "free revs". Especially under certain conditions. When at stop light under light accel. Say someone slows in front of me or its a truck changing gears real slow.. I usually lift off the gas for a sec.. when I reapply the gas, its kind of like in neutral, the revs spike. . If if I let it it would hit the limiter, but I usually notice around 3k and lift off again. It usually takes 3-5 sec and then it gets in gear again and away we go. This happens periodically under conditions during which I lift off the gas and reapply right after, up a hill or stop and go or w.e. . Im not racing it or being aggressive just casually lift and reapply. Anyway its very annoying and sometimes dangerous. When in traffic and it happens and I cant accel for 3 sec because its in netreul or w.e So Today I took it in because the airbag light has started coming on by itself off and on. So I told them about the trans being jerky and free revving.. Im Worried theyll blame it on my alternator. Its aftermarket of course. Its installed properly etc. Might need a tad smaller belt due to the smaller pulley. Its whines very minimally sometimes though not often. But it does put a load on the engine.. the car idles higher, especially if the ac is on. And ya know theres four runs of wire two batts external regulator lol NOT factory anymore. Im Wondering or rather, im afraid theyll just blame car audio and charge me $110 for looking at it.. What do you think.. and any advice when dealing with the dealer warranty directly related or not is appreciated. Maitenence wise its up to par. Ive had it since march. It had everything brought up to current by thd dealer at 30k. Ive just changed the oil like im supposed to sice then. At 38k atm. Sorry for the extra long post. Thanks in advance. Skullz Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 Prior to taking any vehicle in for warranty repair work you really want to remove any after market gear and put the stock stuff back in as a precautionary measure, dealers like to shift things back on the consumer if something is altered on the car even though it has nothing to do with what you took it in for in the first place. I hope they don't try to jerk you around and say the alt was the cause of everything wrong with your ride. 01 Ford focus ZX3 Pioneer AVH-X491BHS PPI PC 4800.2 Morel Maximo 6.5" x2
P4killer_ Posted September 3, 2013 Author Report Posted September 3, 2013 Yea ya know I thought about. Itd take me ohh a few hours to swap by myself. . To then swap it again. That sucks. Idk i wouldnt be at all surprised, but im just hoping they dont own my ass. I bet they will. Damn. matt14 Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 The way it should go down is that they will charge you a diagnostic fee of $110. Then if the problem is covered under your warrenty they will wave the fee and/or be applied to the deductible of whatever your extended warranty deductible is ( if using a extended ). The only way that is should not be covered is if they can prove that the audio caused the problem, which they will likely cant prove. The only issue that you may have is if in the freeze frame data stored ( if there are any DTC's stored ), it shows low voltage and they again can prove that your equipment caused this the warrenty can be void. 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-3
P4killer_ Posted September 3, 2013 Author Report Posted September 3, 2013 they couldnt find anything wrong. they said the trans fluid looked old but not burned reccomended a flush and adaption sensor reset $251... the original dealer which is much farther than my local one, shoulda have changed the trans fluid as part of the 30k reccomended matienence schedule before they sold me the car. I got it at 30k. I took it in two months ago, to get a simple recall done. I asked the service man, "is there anything i need to do with this car matinence wise to keep on schedule?". he replied no, we did everything at 30k, you should be fine till 60k.. so i asked my local dealer, if they changed the fluid, why would it be dirty? he said it wouldnt be, and to call the original dealer to look up the service record to see if they flushed or not. i called the original dealer, they looked it up. they did in fact change the brakes, oil, filter, cabin all the small stuff on the first half of the 30k sheet, but did NOT do the trans or the coolant or any of the 30k fluids like it says to. i asked the man, well the fluid needs to be changed, and as the customer i feel as though this should have been done by them before selling me the car. why should i have to pay for that.. i was put on the phone with the manager, who said the service manager will be in tom morning. my local dealer told me since they found nothing wrong i had to pay the diag fee, but he reduced it from 110 as someone said above to $54.. I mentioned that to the original dealer, like i have to pay $54 to get my car back, shouldnt that be under warranty? She said they should just reset the adaptive trans sensors and bill hyundai since i have a warranty. i called my local dealer back and relayed that same info, he replied, since they found nothing wrong, the trans fluid is still good, but not burned, he only reccomended i change it for $251, which i declined. So since they is nothing wrong under warranty, there is nothing to bill hyundai for so i had to pay the diag fee. he already cut it to $54 and thats the best he can do. So now i have to take my reciept, to the original dealer tom morning and speak to him myself as to why this matinence wasnt done at 30k, and hopefully get that done. What if i took the mans word about having to not worry till 60k, and by then the fluid surely would have been toasted, then what? ive had problems with the original dealer before over promises they made, that i had to force them to keep, needless to say we had a few words.. i also took it to get the oil changed with a few things they promised and he brang it back to me at work, and told me to come back another day to get the oil changed, because i couldnt pay it for it that day, because i was at work... but the other promises were done, which they were. i said f it and got the oil changed at a jiffy lube instead of driving an hour to them. They called me like 2 weeks later about a late payment for.... an oil change.... i called my sales rep and said, you told me to come back, you told me they didnt do it yet because i couldnt pay for it that day (because he returned my car at like 9pm). Why would i then go and pay to change my oil, if i knew it was ALREADY CHANGED AT THE DEALER>>??? he told me i heard him wrong, i said i know wtf i heard. he said he wont let me screw the workers outta the money i owed, i said i dont owe you a dime, he said hed pay for it b/c he aint worried about $30 and have a nice day bla bla, and hung up. so needless to say we dont have a good relationship. wish me luck. matt14 Posted September 3, 2013 Report Posted September 3, 2013 With some dealers, the used car department wants to only repair what is a safety item prior to selling the car. They want to maximize the profit as mush as possible like any business would . I am a tech at a dealer and we would recommend say that trans service, but since its not considered a a safety item they decline it. As far as charging you, that is normal. If we pull codes, road test, inspect fluid levels, check tsb's and nothing is found to be wrong then someone has to pay and the manufacturer will not. 2006 GMC YukonPioneer HU SHCA ran throughout Crescendo BC3500 One 18 AA Mayhem in a 4th order ZED Levithian 6 channel Rainbow Dual 6.5 comps ran Activehttp://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/155628-matt14s-yukon-mayhem-in-a-4th-ordernew-amps-and-bats/page-3
P4killer_ Posted September 3, 2013 Author Report Posted September 3, 2013 I get that about the fee. But about the service.. isnt that an oxy moron. The dealer would void my warranty if I let the fluid burn. But they tell me im good till 60k with the same fluid.. thats sounds like they hope I dont notice so they can screw me when 60k comes and its dust in there..
