CJ18
I'm in for the 5k at .5 haha. Wont be tested at .5. Remember the dyno tests at true ohms, not subject to any sort of rise. 1 ohm is 1 ohm.

ghostlyrich
Beginning next weekend I will be testing ALL DC amps on my AD-1. Each amp will be tested at 1 ohm, 2 ohm, and 4 ohm in all 3 modes. How do you think they will perform? I have 30 XS 14v batteries to use for power. I will do my best to get the tests to come out as close to 14.4v as possible. All ratings can be found here for reference. http://www.dcaudio.us/subsamps.html Copy and paste the following and fill out with your guesses for 1 ohm output. 1.2k Certified-1263 Non Certified-1355 Dynamic-1456 2k Certified-2063 Non Certified-2150 Dynamic-2300 3.5k Certified-3567 Non Certified-3621 Dynamic-3789 5k Certified-5125 Non Certified-5300 Dynamic-5423 7.5k Certified-7595 Non Certified-7632 Dynamic-7777 9k Certified-9099 Non Certified-9158 Dynamic-9232 10k Certified-10025 Non Certified-10101 Dynamic-10156 175.4 Certified-179.9 Non Certified-185.3 Dynamic-188.9 bingo !! CJ18
I am going to retest the 3.5k and 7.5k once I receive my toolmaker dual 2/0 inputs for SHCA wire. I have a theory that I want to test and have the ability to with the dyno. I am going to test single 1/0 input vs single 2/0 input vs dual 1/0 input vs dual 2/0 input. What I am looking to find is what the difference in power output is and find out what the proper way to wire up each amp is to get the most power from it. I have had people ask me to wire the amps up just using the single power and ground or dual power and ground in the case of the 5k and 7.5k. My response to that is, if you are going to spend $500-$1000-$2000+ on an amplifier, why are you going to cheap out an not buy a couple of $30-$40 sets of dual inputs and a few more feet of wire to properly feed your amp? That is like buying a lamborghini and running 87 octane through it because it is $.50 cheaper. Edited September 16, 2013 by CJ18

I have always gained on the meter when using dual inputs. Now I have the tool to test and show what causes those gains. I am expecting the numbers on the 7.5k test to go up when I can feed it proper current. The 5k and 7.5k both use 2 power and 2 ground inputs. On my bench right now I am using dual inputs with 2awg wire. I believe that the 5k is getting the current it wants but the 7.5k still wants more than it can draw through those wires. I am hoping to see a substantial power output increase when switching to a larger wire. At the very least it will be an interesting test to see what happens. I may also order a spool of CCA wire to test vs OFC as well.
