in no particular order:

USACi is based in Arkansas

MECA is based in Tennessee

dBDRA is based in Ohio

IASCA is based in Florida

Texas Heatwave, Texas

SBN, Florida

Slamology, Indiana

NOPI Nationals, Georgia

So I look at triangle on the map, the three points being Texas, Florida and Michigan. Within that triangle, should be the highest concentration of competitors, theoretically.

The center of that triangle is in between Memphis and St. Louis. That seems like the central point of the hobby, if you exclude the west coast and southwest scene.

Which makes sense to me because it is thousands of miles away.

My vote is for Tenessee or Missouri.

If you take a look at a population density map of the USA, you'll understand why the west coast is left out.

The fact is if you go with the geographic center of the country you are no close enough to high population area

for a show like this to get attendants. The best cities, and highways, are on the eastern half of the country.

You left out MIDWESTSPL

Their finals is in Sedialia, MO, basically righ the middle of Missouri at the fairgrounds, it is a great place, demo all day and no cops. Just that city sucks there is nothing there.

i said Iowa cause yes, i live here, but its also pretty centered in the middle of the US. Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Arkansas, all of those places are pretty dead flatlands, no offense to their residents, and if you arent in a HUGE city, people mostly dont care what you do, as long as you dont burn their fields out...but thats only if you want center, not based on bass community or population density. But if it could be made as BIG as Sturgis, like the king of all Bass Places, then i think it would work well, even have advertising, but if it were a small demo show or small street comp then i dont think it would work as well.

I have to agree with N8 of all the places where the largest shows are there is always something to offer more than just a show. I mean we do, do things after the show is over. You want to have a place to go and celebrate or congregate and I'm sorry the middle of a fucking cornfield is a bad idea to have a shit load of board people from the city. It spells trouble. Slamfest being in Gainesville is a good spot because UF is a huge school and the city is built around the college so you get enough stuff to do at night that won't lead to much trouble and for the most part every basshead from Florida and GA can easily make it there and the size of the event has increased over the years. Let's not forget for those of us who would have to drive you also need to know there is enough lodging available to accommodate an event like that. It is a great idea and I am all for the expansion of this hobby as a whole but I think there would have to be some serious research done to pick a location that is not already currently being used for another large event. Not to mention the fact that no matter what you do, some bassheads will be left out. It's just the way the cookie crumbles not everyone can be accommodated when it comes to these events. Hell I say bring it to Miami lol but there really isn't a big enough scene here to warrant the need for an extremely large event.
