RossGo Posted September 30, 2013 Report Posted September 30, 2013 I have a mechman 150 amp on my 96 4runner. I would have gone with a 240 but did not want belt slip. Keep in mind that there are no options for drive pulley replacements since all three belts are driven off the crankshaft pulley.With only three ribs, anything higher than 150 will slip a lot. My 150 slips if my car sits about a week. I can tighten it up more, but it is already pretty tight. Charging 6 batteries with a 150 will put a lot of strain on the alt. Yes I have a lot of stereo weight. I build for Smiles Per Gallon not Miles Per Gallon LOLZ My build - 1996 4Runner with 2 18s - 149+ in a sealed box (with radiators)

Theres alotta mixed reviews on them tho...some say theyre bad some say theyre amazing..I have one in my impala and havent had a problem with it. I went budget on the electrical...powermax alt plus an optima battery but im only running about 1700 watts rms with this setup..reason why I got it was because I wasnt planning to keep this car forever and didnt want to spend an arm and a leg on things I cant take out and reuse on another car..my alt was 200 bucks ..220 amps peak..my voltage stays at 14.4 at idle when the bass drops and im at 1200rpms or more (peak amperage) my voltage doesnt drop lower than 13.6 or so..havent got stranded or blown up my car in 6 month so I guess its alright...but if you want to go 2500watts rms or more id recommend you just save up a few hundred more and go with a mechman dc or iraggi alt..between 600 and 900 bucks but well worth it..plus bomb customer service goes a long way You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries

I have a 270xp from DC on my Tacoma and its a beast alt. Kept up with 11k Was charging 7 3100s just fine Team Flex Issues

Mechman, Singer, DC Power stay with them. see this is what Im talking about . Mixed reviews...I will say mine has 0 problems. No noise in or outside the casing or even in the speakers. I did have to change the belt because the performance pulley is smaller than stock. No belt slip at all..im not a powermax advocate or anything and I do admit dc mechman and iraggi are all better but powermax is a good buget choice..just dnt go trying to push 10k watts with powermax..lol You need trunk space to get groceries and shit...bitches love groceries
