Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

An acoustic event has dimensions of Time, Tone, Loudness and Space

Everyone learns to render the 3-dimensional localization of sound based on the individual shape of their ears,

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Sorry if I missed something here but can you clarify whether or not you're still planning to build this series tuned? I don't know which version of WInISD you're using but I've found the latest two to have a lot of trouble modeling complicated enclosures. Maybe it's just me though.

But if you're using WinISD Beta, it doesn't model series tuned 6th orders. And... you can't simply change the model it graphs for you and expect similar results. You'll get results but they won't look anything like what you've modeled.

All that said I think you mentioned that you've changed to a parallel alignment, which would be good since WInISD does well with those alignments.

Why the change from one octave separation to the current? I don't doubt that you now have a considerable peak on the high end of the spectrum but, when you spread the tuning out you usually wind up with a massive dip between the tuning frequencies and I can tell you, that will not be pleasing to listen to on music. You may be good at 20 Hz and at 70 Hz but if I'm thinking correctly, you're going to have a piss poor response ~45Hz. I'm thinking something like -5bB or more...

I wonder if you'd mind sharing the plot you did on WInISD? Either that or tell me exactly which woofers you're using, as the Thunder Pro 12 is a prefabbed pro audio cabinet, not a raw sub. I'd like to model it and just see where the peaks and valleys are because if you've really got a pretty flat response curve with those parameters, my mind's gonna be blown, lol.

Also, if the drivers you're using have a lot of xmax, an isobaric alignment doesn't really accomplish much other than reducing the overall size of the cabinet. It will also give the amp a lot better control over the drivers but the trade off there is a reduction in overall piston diameter, which equates to less sound pressure. Honestly, with a good speaker, I don't think you'll notice much of a benefit from isobaric but... I'm just speculating.

Great post and really helpful. I too have the same curiosity with all if this. Logic says that dip between tuning of chambers it's going to be significant when spreading them out so far.

Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.

I got it lol... nice work though looking forward to the picture I hope this box works good man. I had a 6th order at one point and time and it sounded really good!

jesus h christ what a beautiful disaster lol... well now since I apparently couldn't visualize the fact that a 6 inch port and and damn 12 inch sub couldn't occupy a space of 13 by 15 together with out some retarded ness.. I'm now going with a high side volume of 2.68 cubes net. lol fuck me I got all the measuring and everything ready to cut and I said wait is that going to work? hmmmm nope lol... also realize I was measuring my low side port wrong :( fucking bull shit lmno oh the life... this build is making me feel foolish. but its ok I'm patient... I have no hair to pull out so a couple hit off the blunt and I'm good to go again lol... I got a few pics that will still go up here once I'm done fuckin around here jesus
