Pro7
Tony just said they both gain resistance linearly so that doesn't make much of a difference. rockFord_Expedition
Tony just said they both gain resistance linearly so that doesn't make much of a difference. But not at the same rate. So it would make a difference. 1 Quote Old School/New School RF Build March 2015 SOTM Winner How to crimp large wire
Pro7
The resistance of both OFC and CCA increases linearly with temperature at approx the same rate with temperature. Both cables same temp increase = same percentage of resistance rise. So the CCA would continue to have the same disadvantage no matter what the temp, if both were the same temp. BUT in reality, CCA is going to lose again because Aluminum has less capacity for heat than copper. Meaning take the same size blocks of both aluminum and copper, put exactly the same amount of heat into them for exactly the same time. Now measure the temp of the two metals, the aluminum will be hotter. So in the real world the longer you play it the worse the CCA will be. This is why expensive audio amplifiers use copper heatsinks, as do computer parts. Yeah I didn't read the second half of this response Quote I've gotten a blowjob and picked up my iphone behind her back to see what email notification I got from smd before
AMI CUSTOMS
Do a test with a 20 ft run of power on each so it is how it would be in a car. 1 run CCA vs 1 run OFC Quote TEAM SOUNDQUBED -- TEAM SOUTH TEAM S.O.B. - Founder & Captain 3x Streetbeat World Record Holder 2017 MWSPL 1st place Mayhem & 4th Xtreme 4 2016 MWSPL 1st place Mayhem/2nd Adv 4/2nd Xtreme 4 2015 MWSPL 2nd place Mayhem & 4th Xtreme 4 2014 USACI 2nd place Streetbeat 5 - 162.6 db 2014 MWSPL 2nd place Xtreme 4 - 144.9 db 2013 USACI 1st place Streetbeat 4 - 161.9 db 2013 USACI 1st place Street Q+ - 162.8 db 2013 MWSPL 3rd Kaos2 & 4th Xtreme 4 2011 USACI 2nd place MOD 1001-2k - 160.0 db 2011 MWSPL 4th place: Adv3 - 157.8 db, Kaos2 - 150s db, Xtreme4 - 140s db 2010 ARSPL 1st place 501-750 - 160.3 db Arkansas loudest Best score to date 164.4 db - Termlab Outlaw Streetbeat 4 - 161.9 db Streetbeat 5 - 162.6 db MWSPL on Dash Legal door open (Music) - 162.5 db Sealed on dash Legal (Music) - 161.1 db - Termlab THE BLACK NASTY CURRENT BUILD & FAB The Black Nasty (6) 15 Rebuild Log 2012 (4) 15 Walled Sierra Build Log Evo X build log Facebook page The Black Nasty
SnowDrifter
What if instead of 3 runs of CCA vs 2 runs of OFC you did 1 run of OFC vs. a 0ga and 4ga run of CCS Quote ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Swordlordboy1234
I would also like to see 15+ foot run tests. Could be slightly wasteful on wire if it was fresh but CJ you have enough wire laying around. I'm sure you got enough to test this with out ruining rolls Quote My old YouTube channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/SwordLords1234?feature=mhee My old build log : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/161872-96-accord-b2-sundown-sky-high-dc-power-re-re-build-for-heatwave/page-37 My New Build - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/207041-2016-mazda-6-sql-build/ 2016 Mazda 6 Touring JL Fix 86 - OEM signal correction B2 prototype DSP 6to8 B2 Ref63 - 3 way active set 2 B2 Class H quattro's 1 B2 Zero.5R @.5 2 B2 HNv3 12 d2 B2 SLIP40 - Lithium in the trunk Northstar Group 35 under the hood 100ft 2/0 welding cable 30ft 4ga welding cable 20ft 8ga welding cable All stinger OFC speaker wire Soundrive custom RCA's Tons of attention to detail.... CJ18
If I have plenty of extra wire left after I install everything in my truck I may run another test with longer runs. I cant keep cutting off of my spools until I have everything installed.
CJ18
Starting voltage/certified 1 ohm/ tested voltage Test is done on dc 3.5k Each run of wire is 52" long 1 run 1/0 cca 14.83v/2987w/13.56v 2 runs 1/0 cca 15.13v/3175w/14.11v 1 run 1/0 ofc 14.95v/3131w/14.02v 1 run 2/0 ofc 14.91v/3274w/14.16v If needed, I have video of each test for verification. Based on these numbers, taking wire cost out of the equation and just going wire by wire, I take the single run of SHCA 2/0 OFC all day. It had the lowest amount of voltage drop along with the highest power output.
AMI CUSTOMS
How do dual inputs stack up against just 2/0? So like dual input 1/0 vs 2/0?
