Joe X Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 So here is a suggestion, any changes let me know: Port parts are: Top to Bottom: 16 1/2" x 13 1/2"Extension: 1 1/2" x 13 1/2" Bracing: 1 1/4" wooden dowel rods.
Syphlyn Posted September 20, 2013 Author Report Posted September 20, 2013 I can go higher, but 34 is too big any way to reduce down to 32 or maybe 32.5? Edit: The box is sitting between my back seat braces, so 32 or 32.5 would probably be a good width. Can you work with that? Also the 34hz tuning is fine Also the width of the port is 4 inches all the way down but when you add the extension the width at the bottom of the port and around the bend is 5.5 inches does that change anything? ^ I mean to say is that the width at the bottom of the box goes from 4 inches to 5 1/2 inches. Joe X Posted September 20, 2013 Report Posted September 20, 2013 Updated to 32.5W, the port stays at 4" after the turn but you need to assemble exactly as the figure shows.
Syphlyn Posted September 20, 2013 Author Report Posted September 20, 2013 I see now forgot to add in the 1.5 from the MDF. Thanks will this box be better than this one? Someone designed this one for me. In your opinion which one would be better? Difference is basically the tuning, net volume, and direction of port. fox_racin4 Posted September 21, 2013 Report Posted September 21, 2013 Your going to want to be around 4 cubes like joe said. I ran a type r 12 on an audiopipe 3k at 2ohm ( 3k rated amp) daily and had no issues unless i felt like turning it wayyy up and bottoming the sub out. Let me tell you... Those subs can move lol... Box was also in the 2 cube area.. Ill fine te vid i took of it.. Personally i think Type Rs are an awsome "mainstream" entry level sub. Ive ran many of them.. Only one i have broken ( 1500rms free air Ripped tripple joint a few times.. Kept regluing) 1998 gmc extd cab 12 crossfire C710s 4 SAZ-4500s 3 Singer 400A altsbuncha mids/highs Team Asshole
Syphlyn Posted September 21, 2013 Author Report Posted September 21, 2013 You dont need a 1.5 inch thick box for 1k Was talking about the .75 top and .75 bottom off the 22 bringing it to 20.5 - 16.5 (port length) leaving 4 inches width for the port "turn" Syphlyns 2000 F150 4.6L V8 H/U: Kendwood KDC-X898 Speakers: 4 x Alpine SPR-68 Speakers 4 Channel Amp: Alpine PDX-F4 Sub: Sundown Zv4 12 Sub Amp: Sundown SAZ-2000D Box: 2.75 Cu Ft @ 31Hz Alternator: Mechman 250A elite series Wiring: All KnuKoncepz 0 gauge OFC + KnuKonceptz Krystal RCAs

cloud77 Posted September 22, 2013 Report Posted September 22, 2013 It doesn't take much to move these subs. Build the box to specs not what people are telling you. If you blow these, they are a pain to recone and you will see that they use cheap parts and terminals, leads, exc.
