Let's you have more freedom as far as stripping the phone of some of the pre installed factory apps that do nothing but clog up memory and eat up battery life, let's you change colors and settings of certain things, and gives you the ability of installing custom software that makes the phones run smoothly. Actually, in shorter terms...it gives you permission to mess with stuff you shouldn't be messing with lol.
