Rockford T2500 bdCp [new to car audio]

Hello!

Im new to car audio, and Im researching about it

I own a Ford Focus hatch

My intention is to get 2 rockford T2 12s and a Rockford T2500 to power them

I have the following hardware, as of now:

30 feet of 0 AWG Shok Industries cable

2 optima yellowtop 75 Ah

Couple of terminals, distributors, fuse holders, etc

After I get the amp and the subs, i will be a little short on money, so I will have to wait to either upgrading my alternator or adding more batteries, so what I wanna ask you guys is: will I be able to power the amp with low gain settings while I cant fully upgrade my eletrical system?

As I mentioned, I got 2 optima D31s and I can charge them everyday if necessary (wall charger). I wont be using too much power all the time, at everyday usage I dont pound to much hehe

I just dont wanna damage the equipment...I supose if I dont let the voltage drop below 13V and dont allow to amp to clip, there wont be any problems right?

With that amp its hard to tell if those batteries can keep up and if your alternator is not making enough power to sustain everything in your car plus 2 batteries the batteries strain the power they have fast , your alternator won't be able to keep up thus eventually damaging it. You should look into xs power or kinetic batteries they help a lot more and keep the charge longer trust me I went from 3 yellow tops to 1 xs power 3400 and it helped a lot . In short you should upgrade your alternator first. As everyone around here will tell you you have to make power to get power. And welcome to the car audio world hope I helped you out a bit

I'd get a nice volt meter and not let the volts drop under 12.5. Did you do the Big 3 yet, that's a must? Install your batteries with 30 feet you might get 2 runs.

Just watch your voltage if you get in the 10s that's bad news. Be chill with it until you get an alt and better batteries.

I dont think people realize how hard it is to maintain battery rest.....

I'm with you, I just didn't want to say something too low and have his amp fry from my advice.

The problem with the XS POWER batteries is that they are extremely difficult to find where I live (Brazil)

I would import them from the US, if the thing didnt weight 80 pounds, lol

Optimas are way easier to find, I guess 3 optimas would do the trick?

I still working on the big 3, I have nothing plugged in yet....but I will do it for sure!

Good to know I only have to watch the voltage, make sure it dont drop too much

As far as I understood, heres what happens:

The alternator provides power to all the systems in the car, including car audio. If the alternator cant produce enough power to feed the audio system, then the energy from the batteries are used, and if you keep that long enough, you will see the voltage droping, if you keep this up, the batteries are going to be completely discharged (for example, with 2 optimas 75 ah, if the system is consuming 300A, they would be totally discharged in half an hour withot the alternator)

So, as long as I keep the voltage in good levels (for example above 12,5) the amp should not suffer any damage, providing it is correctly adjusted (no distortion)

Your right on track and if you say you could charge those batteries daily then I don't see you having a problem for now.

Welcome Brazil! Maybe the T-1500 would be better for your set-up. It will still rattle your head!!! And save some battery!!!

Soccerballzs I know the T1500 is powerful, but I think I will go all out with the T2500...then I wont need to upgrade the amp never again

Look around locally for other brands of AGM batteries. You don't have to run a name brand car audio battery to get the benefits of an AGM... AGM batteries are AGM batteries, regardless of whether or not they're marketed for car audio. That said, look for batteries manufactured in Japan as opposed to China and you'll be good.

And ditch the Optimas when you can. ;-)
