Awhitewookie
Really down right now guys. Just finished working on my car for 9 hours. Successfully walled it, covered in vinyl (looks awesome), wired all my batts, wired the amp and fuses, everything. Pulled out my DD1 for the first time ever, turned the key and... ...protect mode. I don't know where to start. SnowDrifter
Ohhhh. Remove your speaker wires and RCAs from the amp. Only the power/ground/remote should be hooked up. No bass knobs either. Measure voltage of the positive going into the amp and the remote wire ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444

jhmeg2
did you perhaps put a screw through an RCA by accedent? Ive done that once and it was hell to trace. ////Alpine, Eclipse, Load Boss, Pheonix Gold, MB Quart,Digital Desings, Memphis, Stinger, Periphial, MTX, Visualogic
Awhitewookie
It was in protect before I connected the RCA's. Plus they run down the side of my panels and under spots that are Ford Snap Plastic so no chance but thanks for chiming in! JesseyMclame
sounds like you might have a pos/neg speaker wire lead touching somewhere. edit; the littlest piece of wire touching will shoot your amp straight into protect. without making a noise or anything. Lbox88
Now do process of elimination, plug just bass knob in, test add RCA's, test add one speaker, test keep adding one by one and see how far you get. Maybe a speaker wire got pinched in a door jam and is shorting and you just don't know it yet. EDIT: this way you don't put everything back on thinking you had stray wires at the amp and turns out you still have a problem somewhere and you have to tear it all apart again.
