iTac91 Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 I'll be upgrading my subs and amps here soon. I'll be running a 1500 watt amp daily and I'll have a 3500 watt amp on a toggle. I've never ran anything over 600 watts before so I don't know how big of an alt. to get and how many batteries i should have to run this. The 3500 watt amp will be pushing two Fi BL18's which are 1500 watt rms a piece. They will not be ran all the time but the 1500 watt amp will be (at least 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time). So that is my dilemma. Thank you in advance Oh and the 1500 watt amp will be pushing two Fi X10's. And the amps are both Sundown, class D
mmets Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 Personally I would go with the biggest alt you can so if you end up wanted to upgrade, which many of us do, you will already be prepared. As far as the batteries I am not the expert by any means but if you go to the sponsor page and look at the XS Power section they have something pinned that will help you out a little better. But just because it says one doesn't mean you wont need more. Need to monitor your voltage to make sure you don't drop too low. If you do another battery may help out. Just my thoughts though. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177477-slowboring-07-trailblazer-build/Pioneer DEH-80PRSPRV 8MR400-NDY (eight) PRV TW350Ti (6)Sky High 1/0 OFC, 12 gauge and 8 gaugeTM Metalworkz battery terminals 120 sqft HushmatXS Power D3100 (6)Singer 350 Amp Alt Singer 320 (2)American Bass SQL3200 JL Audio JX360/4 Crossfire XS 8K (2) DC Audio XL 15s (6)

Kyblack76 Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 Just a heads up. Some, being just large output, only do it at high revs. Some can have both great idle, and peak. Others, shit at idle and gobs at peak. Keep that in mind. Are you planning on wiring the amps low? Figure your amp hours, with the voltage at where you wanna shoot for, say, battery rest, or a lil under, and then go for it. WIth that power, you wont need a large amount by any means. A good 270 alt (made by a great maker) and a few group 31 or so, will treat you fine. Also, models around that amperage, 225-285 will give you great idle output. Just right for a true daily. Look at a a hair pin/6phase also. Cant beat the idle output, and they are easy on the needed torque for spinning up. Now, go get loud. Kyblack76 Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 Time out... also, what does this mean? . They will not be ran all the time but the 1500 watt amp will be (at least 2 hours a day, 1 hour at a time). Does that mean with the vehicle running? or off? That is a entire new can of shit. Guess thats what the "toggle" means? So, what does that mean? SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
RooTxBeeR Posted November 11, 2013 Report Posted November 11, 2013 What's your reasoning for wanting to use 2 different amps to power the same set of subs. I just don't see how that can work out well. Edit: never mind, why do you want to use 2 different sets of subs and amps? Just seems like a lot of room to take up, a lot of money to invest and a lot of preparation and possibly a few glitches here or there. iTac91 Posted November 11, 2013 Author Report Posted November 11, 2013 Sorry. Should have been a little more detailed. The two 18s will be on a switch. I'll run the remote wire from the amp Toa toggle switch so they stay off until I want to turn them on. That's what the 3500 watt amp is for. The other amp is for two 10 that will be my daily listener
