What to get? best quality for the lowest dollar!

So heres my problem: im looking to upgrade my system here soon and i only have $1,000 (maybe even less) to spend. My car is an 02 suzuki xl7 with stock speakers, i already put an Alpine cde-125bt stereo in it, but i need 2 tweeters, 2 midrange, 1 (possibly 2) subs, an amp, possibly an eq, and anything else i might need. All of which i want proffessionally installed (im considering Audio Source or [god forbid] best buy) i'd do it myself, but ive never done it before and im SURE id fuck it up somehow. Ive searched and searched and cant make up my mind (as i have no real idea of what im looking at), so i'll let you guys give me some ideas. Thanks everyone!

Best thing to do is to upgrade some and save money for the rest...You don't absolutely need it all at once. If you try to do this, you'll most likely end up buying more mediocre equipment instead of saving up for better.

I would take care of your highs first. Stock speakers are probably gonna have a hard time keeping up with a sub or 2. Look into Crescendo for some speakers and CT Sounds has some nice amps that won't destroy your bank account. Keep your electrical in mind....If your running a stock battery that's old, your gonna want to include a new one (possibly an nice AGM) to help with the demand.

have you thought about a 5 channel amp? i am looking at nvx jad900.5 or RF punch 1000x5. not sure how big or what quality you are looking at but you could very likely get a hole system for 1000 bucks and sound good be loud and bump. mbdblue is right on. if you stick to no more than 1000watts rms total you should be ok with good size amp kit and battery.

I was in the same situation product wise about a month ago for my girlfriends car. I got a couple things that I really like for trying to do a whole system without breaking the bank.

First off is the CT sounds 60.4-500.1D it is a 5 channel amp that does 60 watts continuous to the 4 mids and highs. coupled with a 500 watt continuous monoblock to power the subwoofer. It's a really nice solution to not take up a ton of space and simply the wiring some.

I got her a pair of these for up in the front doors, they sound really good when tuned properly. It will take some time adjusting them. But if the shop is good, you'll have a great sounding front stage.

For the sub stage we got the Audio Technix tropo 12's, I've got them in a box made by a local guy and they sound great!

She drives a toyota celica, so we threw an XS power D5100R upfront to support the load. It does very well for a single battery system with stock all for 1000 watt continuous. Never drops below 13.8v, at full tilt. She doesn't listen to it nearly that loud, so it's perfect.

People will sell something on craigslist to just get a little cash quick. You have to check often in your and nearby areas to catch these deals before they're gone. Took me a little while (3 months), but I pieced together a decent amateur system for very little compared to what retail would have cost:

That's $405 for 2 decent subs, separates all around, and 2300 RMS watts.

95% of my stuff is second hand. I reckon that's the best option and you'll end up with better equipment that you can use in later builds or whatever.
Also why not give it a go at doing it yourself, there's hundreds of build logs on here you could follow and find some tutorial videos or something. If you pay someone to do it this time then you'll either have to do that same next time or learn it at some point anyway. May as well learn it now and have the knowledge stay with you forever
