6" Aeroport brearhing room?

Tried emailing the company. Whoever handled my response doesn't know.

I got an answer saying 2" between the port and the back of the box. Another saying no idea, then telling me the rule of thumb of port width.

Well since there's a 9" flare on these, does it need 6" or 9" of space to breathe?

Think about this. Since it is round the do you measure the distance on the left, top, right or bottom. I mean 3" clearance on one side but you have 3" on both side or all the way around. So how does that even compute really?

Just more things to think about I guess

Rule of thumb is the width of the port. Id say 6 inches

But you are suppose to count half the radius of the flare as part of port length. So do you measure width there too?

your port should be anything above the radius of the port but no less than the radius of the port. if it's the radius of the port than it may change the tuning frequency of your enclosure. for a 6" aero port i'd keep it at least 4" away from the nearest wall. I use aeroports a ton and always keep them actual port diameter away from wall, so for a 4" aero I keep it 4" away from wall. next box with aero's is 12 cubes with 3 6" aeroports in a box that's interior is 22" deep leaving me roughly 5" away from back wall.

if nothing changes, nothing changes

You don't know what you don't know, till you don't know

Think about when people round over square ports in a way they're flared too. I'm not 100% positive on this, but I'd say to be safe, have a minimum of 6 inches between port and where it's going to unload off of.
