heightzbest562 Posted November 30, 2013 Author Report Posted November 30, 2013 Volume seems entirely too large. How are you calculating what you need for airspace for the subs? Like what made you come to 36 sealed and 36 ported? yea well thats why i came here to try and get more info and ideas ... i was thinking one chamber poerted tuned low and the other chamber open or tuned high ... im not even sure of how to calculate 6th ordedr
heightzbest562 Posted December 1, 2013 Author Report Posted December 1, 2013 how about 17 cubes ported tuned to 30 and the open chamber be the rest of the space
CleanSierra Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 Get a design from a professional, I.e. pay for a design. BHE, Ram Designs are a couple I'd trust. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Tecomah Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 I agree with Sierra. 6th orders are fairly challenging even with quite a bit of experience and if you mess it up it can seriously damage your equipment. I would get some to design it for you. I personally like bhe 750??! Yeah, fuck that. Fuck this website, fuck SMD, fuck Steve, fuck all of his butt buddy mods, and their couches.^ DON'T BE A DICK LIKE THIS GUY Team Subsonic Lows
OrionStang Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 how about 17 cubes ported tuned to 30 and the open chamber be the rest of the space How about just go ported. The gear you have will get plenty loud. Its obvious you don't have the experience to dive into a 6th order build. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
CleanSierra Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 The reason I say pay to get a design is because no one here is going to be able or willing to help you design a box that they won't know will work or not. You kinda sound like you're stabbing at it blindly. Have you looked at diagrams of what 6th orders look like or how they work? Do you know the idea behind tuning? My suggestion is DO not try to design one yourself if you're not familiar with enclosure design. Even those that ARE experienced may not get it right on the first shot. They aren't a one and done kind of thing usually. If you did by chance get it right on the first one it would be luck. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Real96SS Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 Ported or 6 th order i was thinking ported 36 cube tuned 30hz with the sub and port facing up to a open chamber about 36cubes open on the side facing inside the car LMAO!!! Are you serious? Dude how do you spend that much money on a sub and not even have a clue where to start on the enclosure. If your building it just do a normal Bass Reflex/Ported box and it will do what you want. Leave the 6th order alone cause its only going to cause a thread here about how you ripped your soft parts and it being fi's fault. mrd6 Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 This is for 2 team 18s on 2 4500s yeah? I agree with everyone else that you should just go ported over the 6th order.... However, if you dont listen and try to build one anyways shoot for around 10 cubes total rear chamber tuned to 28hz with around 120 sq inch port. Front chamber do ~20 cubes tuned to ~45 hz with around 250 sq inch of port. This would be a good starting point. The problem with building 6th orders is that they need to be tweaked more than regular boxes to get performing correctly. Cabin acoustics will come into play alot and it is very difficult to design for that if you dont have experience building in the specific car. heightzbest562 Posted December 1, 2013 Author Report Posted December 1, 2013 ok thx ill prob do ported 16 cubes don't kno about the port area yet but will tune it to 30s or maybe 28ish hahaha
Swordlordboy1234 Posted December 1, 2013 Report Posted December 1, 2013 congrats SMD. a newbie actually listened to our good advice. He can be taught! Id still get a professional design even for the simple ported box. You would be amazed what a professionally designed and built box vs other boxes can do…. I'm a first hnd wittnesss to this in my own car from trying to do things the cheaper way. Recently i just dumped over 4 bills on a box and i couldn't be happier with the performance over my last box that wasn't so professionally designed and constructed. install 80% equipment 20% My old YouTube channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/SwordLords1234?feature=mhee My old build log : http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/161872-96-accord-b2-sundown-sky-high-dc-power-re-re-build-for-heatwave/page-37 My New Build - http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/207041-2016-mazda-6-sql-build/ 2016 Mazda 6 Touring JL Fix 86 - OEM signal correction B2 prototype DSP 6to8 B2 Ref63 - 3 way active set 2 B2 Class H quattro's 1 B2 Zero.5R @.5 2 B2 HNv3 12 d2 B2 SLIP40 - Lithium in the trunk Northstar Group 35 under the hood 100ft 2/0 welding cable 30ft 4ga welding cable 20ft 8ga welding cable All stinger OFC speaker wire Soundrive custom RCA's Tons of attention to detail....
