Next step is gonna be working on the roof with some mdf and spanding foam, not gonna like, i´m scared with this next step, i´ve seen lots of people gaining with this and some other loosing tons, any opinions or inputs about it? any experience with it? fecupe2001 Posted September 15, 2016 Author Report Share Posted September 15, 2016 Long time i haven´t updated this topic, car has been doing demo after demo after demo on any show, and of course, competing on bass race class every time without working on the car for over a year now, guess it´s time to start working on the car Anyways, i checked the last updates and pics i posted when i had the soundigital 12k and car was doing 159.3 @ 44 hz on 6100 watts clamped, 155.4 @ 27 hz was my loudest score and more violent peak frequency on the lower range, things i did or changed: - Changed the piece of crap Soundigital wich broke down like they all do to a Stetsom 14k, car is louder on the low lows now, burps basically the same score, soundigital seemed to be louder on higher frequencies but definitely the stetsom sounds "cleaner" if you can use that term on a brazilian amp lol - Changed to a single Stetsom 1k6 wires at 0.8 ohms for the 10 mids and a stetsom venom 1800.4 for the highs. - Added 2 layers of 1/2" MDF on the roof for reinforcement, i was afraid of loosing some tenths by doing that but needed to do it asap since roof was tearing apart, thank god i burped the exact same score and peak frequency, power dropped about 400 watts so car got more efficient for sure! - Added 4 runs of Stinger 0ga OFC wire, didn´t gain a single tenth lol, guess that my 2 runs of wire i had before was enough for only 6k clamped that i have After 2 years on this wall, doors were teared apart like crazy, my score dropped almost 2 dbs because of that and few other reasons like broken interal braces on the box, maybe a couple of dust caps broken or blown subs that i should have since the subs are almost 2 years now, yes you read correctly, stock massive summo cheap ass subs playing full tilt few times per week taking that amount of abuse!!! and few other things i need to check , anyways, my score dropped from 159.3 to only 157.5 , changed to my new sexy green doors with green tint and got the score back to 158.4 dbs wich is awesome for only spending 120$ on the doors with handles, windows, mirrors and everything!!! I definitely don´t want to modify my stock doors anymore , once i cut anything to fit some mids or highs they will get softer, so, it´s time to work on something else, i´m gonna be adding mids/highs everywhere except the doors, you´ll see BTW, metered the car on the low lows with the new doors and it´s definitely more violent now, new scores: 150 @ 17 hz 152 @ 20 hz 156 @ 27 hzCar still does 156 from 27 to 70 hz, gotta love the bandwith the sexplorer has!!! fecupe2001 Posted March 2, 2017 Author Report Share Posted March 2, 2017 I´m almost 36 and been doing car audio for about 20 years now, i´m definitely getting tired and too old for this shit lol, i bought myself a CRX to continue competing and having fun on shows but this is THE LAST TIME i work on the sexplorer, huge builds take way too much money and time from me and my family and is time to finally complete this build, so, we are doing it big then!! First step, getting the subs out!! These Massive Summo 15s have been doing just amazing for more than 2 years now, got them all out and none of them had broken cones or dust caps or anything like that, even the Voicecoils are crispy clear, but it was time to get something stronger, don´t have pictures but new subs are already on my storage, welcome to brand new Massive Hippo XL 15s When i updated the topic last time, you saw that i changed doors and said that i´m done with door panels since the flex is tearing the whole car apart starting with the doors, so, i´m doing a bunch of mids/highs everywhere else. Let´s start with our new roof... That´s just the beggining, there´s gonna be 8 Massive M6 6.5" mids on the top along with 2 Massive T50 Bullet Tweeters (haven´t open up the holes for those yet).
