sickbass Posted December 16, 2013 Report Posted December 16, 2013 recently admitted myself to the hospital with extreme abdominal pains turned out to be something called diverticulitis, something i had never heard of before. my particular case was a bad one: a few of the diverticuli that had formed got badly infected and burst, splitting the side of my colon open, and allowing the infection to leak into my stomach.i was in the hospital for 12 days, but so doped up it felt like 4.5.i have no recollection of the stories people were telling me about before and after the surgery. Doctors told me if i had waited to come in i would have died from going septic.Looking back on it, it really put my life and the world around me into perspective. Became a more grateful person for even the smallest of things, and been trying harder to keep in touch with all my friends and family. no real point to this thread, just think we all could use a little jolt in our lives to humble us down and adjust our perspectives.

Glad your OK, man. I was in the hospital in 2001 for over a month with a bad case of acute pancreatitis and it was pure hell (at least what i remember of it). Doc said if had waited any longer i would have died. I have 30% of my panc left & am now more prone to develop pancreatic cancer.
