mbdblue Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 I'd just get a single din unit man......or fabricate the opening to accept a double din. I think the flip-out "craze" has came and went....More times than not I've seen them malfunction after a short time and not come out, not flip open, or not close. JesseyMclame Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 If money isn't an issue, why are you looking at dual ? Pioneer makes a badass flip out, and iirc alpine does too. Nas Escobar Posted December 25, 2013 Author Report Posted December 25, 2013 If money isn't an issue, why are you looking at dual ? Pioneer makes a badass flip out, and iirc alpine does too. You sure Alpine makes one? I would have been over that in a minute if it was in a good price point and had features I wanted like bluetooth, 3 output jacks @ 4 volts each, dimmer, usb, aux, stuff like that. It's been a while since I've seen an Alpine flipout. As far as Pioneer, I don't like them... plain and simple. Their outputs are usually 2 volts, their designs are too off the wall, the RMS on those heads are unusually low (14 watts compared to 18 with Alpine and 20/22 with JVC-Kenwood). I used to have a Pioneer DEH6300UB and I detested that thing. I let it go to the yard when my car was totalled. Anyways, I was only looking at dual because it has the things I want... detachable face, 3 outputs at 4 volts, bluetooth, and it was on sale on SonicElectronix. That and I wanted to give it a chance, just to see how they are. I'd just get a single din unit man......or fabricate the opening to accept a double din. I think the flip-out "craze" has came and went....More times than not I've seen them malfunction after a short time and not come out, not flip open, or not close. I figured as much. They disapparead from the market, but the only reason I want one is becasue the car I want to put it in doesn't have much clearance in the dash for a larger opening since it's right next to the speedometer and the A/C ducts run behind it. I might just put my Alpine back in there and get a 2din for the Camaro, although that kinda defeats the purpuse since my Camaro is my DD and the other car (a Cutlass) is my weekend cruiser. I just wanted the screen for the idiots I drive around with sometimes so they don't annoy me on long trips.
agf144 Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 My dad had a "400 watt" dual amp that probably only put out 150ish watts bridged at 2 ohms. It ran super hot and struggled. I would stay away from the brand Chick took 3 shots of Jager, and then, pissed in my mouth.. oh.. wait.. naw.. that wasnt weird.. He probably tearin dat ass up every night. JesseyMclame Posted December 25, 2013 Report Posted December 25, 2013 Well I'm not sure if you've looked at pioneer recently. The avh-x7500bt us a 7" screen, 4v preouts, has 3 pre outs, and the price point is reasonable as he'll considering the quality you get. Oh and rms is 22 a channel. hammiethebasshead Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 have had dual amps subs and head units (i was starting out) they were all terrible. i do not suggest them at all there are better brands at just a little more cost than dual once you get a speaker moving so hard that its possible to make tinsels slap, you are already kissing "SQ" goodbye. Don't get me wrong, as I smoke Marlboro Reds, but if I saw one more kid with that smug-ass look (Look at me I'm smoking indoors) on their face, I was going to shove that thing so far up someone's ass that they'd look like a hillbilly trying to understand quantitative prediction theorem. You know why people are ass holes online but not in person? Because getting punched in the mouth hurts.
notorious97200 Posted December 26, 2013 Report Posted December 26, 2013 I had the Pioneer 6900 after a prs 88 and I liked it a lot. I run a Pio 9300 sd now and don't need to change anything. Forget Dual ! It's crap. Don't focus on output power of the head unit if you're using an external amp on rca. 2v or 4 v : no problem, you have gain settings on your amp. Pioneer, Alpine, or maybe JVC/Kenwood : nothing else for h u ! They're getting cheaper and cheaper... black BMW X1 2.0 l 192 hp OEM head unit, Amplifiers : Audison AP 8.9 with integrated DSP and Ampere Audio 1200. Focal ES 100 K in front doors, and Dayton RS 180 for midbass under the front seats. 2 SSA DEMONS 10" subs, in a sealed box. SecondSkin Damplifier on front doors, and Luxury Liner Pro for the cargo area.
afrakes Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 Had a pair of dual 10s from best buy back when I had just gotten my license and had $100 in my pocket. Rated at 150 rms I think and put the pair on a kicker zx 500 @ 4 ohms, so it saw about 250 rms. They blew in 4 days on clean power. POS. gr8handogoatness Posted December 28, 2013 Report Posted December 28, 2013 I had a Dual deck some 7-8 years ago, and it worked great, never had any problems with it. Sound quality wasn't amazing but I hammered on it for like 3 years. I had 3 mtx 10s and knocked off my rear view mirror and it fell and hit the deck, made it skip once and it kept on going. Today it is still going strong in my little brothers car. He also has a dual amp that pounds some sony xplodes. They sound terrible (gains all the way up, bass boosted) but rattle stuff so he likes it. I don't run dual now nor will I again because the higher quality of the kenwoods and alpines are more important that the price of the dual, but my experience has been positive.
Aj11 Posted December 29, 2013 Report Posted December 29, 2013 my dual headunit caught fire in my firebird! don't but crap! prolly the worst brand on the market! well close anyway. jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
