Weigel21 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 But won't a battery isolater resolve such an issue?
JEFFYBOI Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 But won't a battery isolater resolve such an issue? yes a battery isolator will keep the 2 different types of batteries separated but is it really recommended? Most people will just say replace the wet cell with a AGM but here's some advice I just learned the hard way. Take dimensions so the AGM will fit under the hood. lol "Toyota Camry rebuild page 21 (link)http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/183768-94-crossfire-camry-18s-walled-singer-alt-has-arrived-rebuild-starts-pg-10/page-21 PIONEER DEH-P8400BH 2 CROSSFIRE C5 1700D 2 CROSSFIRE C7 18 HOOD. JEFFYBOI Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 It will shorten the life of your AGMs I bet you'll see a bigger voltage difference if you let them sit for 6-8 hrs After I recently took all my batteries off to charge and rewire more in. The AGM and well cell was resting at 12.5 or so. then got them charged back up. I frequently take my batteries out to charge them but I need one of them Ctek chargers heard they are good "Toyota Camry rebuild page 21 (link)http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/183768-94-crossfire-camry-18s-walled-singer-alt-has-arrived-rebuild-starts-pg-10/page-21 PIONEER DEH-P8400BH 2 CROSSFIRE C5 1700D 2 CROSSFIRE C7 18 HOOD. It's a fail safe for ensuring your starter battery doesn't drain to a point where you can't start the engine. Sure, it's not required and some could easily argue there's "better" things to spend the money on, but "I" wouldn't exactly call the $50-maybe $100 spent on one as being wasted, at least not after the first time I bump the system for a few hours only to realized the battery has dropped dramatically in voltage. Hell, anyone could argue than any of the items anyone on here has bought was a "waste of money".
hammiethebasshead Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 you can run a wet cell with a sealed or vrla battery I have had the mixture in my car for about 8 months now with no problems. As snow said the wet cell will rob your vrla but it usually isn't enough to really tell as far as I have seen (just a couple tenths at rest). It will decrease the life of your vrla battery though. once you get a speaker moving so hard that its possible to make tinsels slap, you are already kissing "SQ" goodbye. Don't get me wrong, as I smoke Marlboro Reds, but if I saw one more kid with that smug-ass look (Look at me I'm smoking indoors) on their face, I was going to shove that thing so far up someone's ass that they'd look like a hillbilly trying to understand quantitative prediction theorem. You know why people are ass holes online but not in person? Because getting punched in the mouth hurts.

Hell, anyone could argue than any of the items anyone on here has bought was a "waste of money". You really should never play your system with the car off. Also have you noticed how large the systems guys here are running? Multiple runs of 1/0 or 2/0 and you would have to put a isolator on each run that would end up costing a lot more than $50 and they don't make a car audio specific isolator that could even match the current demands of most of thy systems on here. Most here are also buying high output alts or multiple high output alts to keep their voltage up while the system is playing, what would be the point of spending the money on those alts if your going to play with the car off? That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
Weigel21 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 OP never gave any sort of indication as to having such a setup and I would ASSuME those on here with such systems as to which you speak, would be much more into the SPL comp scene and have been doing so long enough to be far beyond asking such questions. Guess I'm still stuck in the 2000RMS and under daily driver that are owned by younger folks that tend to like to bump the system with the vehicle off at a gathering of some sort.
Broke_Audio_Addict Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 A lot of people are running a whole lot more than 2000 rms or less in daily setups not just pure spl setups. Stick around here you will see a lot of questions asked buy guys with high power systems that have no clue what they are doing or just got into car audio. Also with 2000rms you should be running a ho alt you may be able to get by without one but you really shouldn't. That being said a lot of people's definition of "music" is a clipped 30 hz sine wave with some 80 IQ knuckle head grunting about committing crimes and his genitals.
Weigel21 Posted June 16, 2014 Report Posted June 16, 2014 Yeah, I'm new to this forum, others i frequent don't have near as many visitors with systems over 2k. I myself haven't ever ran a system rated at more than 1050RMS total (850RMs to a pair of subs, 50RMS to each of my four full-range speakers). I could tell it taxed my OEM electrical when cranked, but luckily, I seldom listened to it at more than low to moderate levels. I've already noticed many member pushing upwards to 10K, which I find ridiculous, but at the same time, I'm not into the Comp scene.
