cloud77 Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 Have an opportunity to purchase a 250A Ohio Gen alt to temporarily bandage my voltage. Has anyone ever used their alts? I heard they put out straight poop @ idle so that is why I am worried. My car idles at a very low RPM: 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix 2004 Grand Prix GT (2) 12" RE XXXs (04/05 XBL^2) 5 cu. ft tuned @ 35 Hz MMATS HD4000.05 MMATS SQ4100 Infinity Kappa components Juice Box black cherry Duralast platinum group 34 1/0 KNU OFC, 2/0 welding Singer 250A
mmets Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 The local shop by me uses them. From what I understand they use your stock alt and beef it up to the most they can. But from the manager here he doesn't use them that much and didn't recommend them when I asked about them. He is a pretty straight forward guy and has done nothing but treat me right in everything I do. I trust his word but then again some people have great experiences with companies and some have a bad one and will drag their name in the dirt as much as they can. Personally I would go with mechman, dc or singer but that's just me. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/177477-slowboring-07-trailblazer-build/Pioneer DEH-80PRSPRV 8MR400-NDY (eight) PRV TW350Ti (6)Sky High 1/0 OFC, 12 gauge and 8 gaugeTM Metalworkz battery terminals 120 sqft HushmatXS Power D3100 (6)Singer 350 Amp Alt Singer 320 (2)American Bass SQL3200 JL Audio JX360/4 Crossfire XS 8K (2) DC Audio XL 15s (6)

Their specs @ idle are poop and my car doesn't really ever get about 3000 rpm. 2004 Grand Prix GT (2) 12" RE XXXs (04/05 XBL^2) 5 cu. ft tuned @ 35 Hz MMATS HD4000.05 MMATS SQ4100 Infinity Kappa components Juice Box black cherry Duralast platinum group 34 1/0 KNU OFC, 2/0 welding Singer 250A

bbeljefe Posted January 11, 2014 Report Posted January 11, 2014 They don't build your alternator, they buy new shells and build new alternators. I've had no trouble with them at all and mine does great at idle speed... it's in a demo vehicle that does a shit ton of full tilt work at idle.
