Sealing Off Trunk

Sidekicker

Recommended Posts

sealing the subs off from the cabin will block all sound waves from entering the cabin, assuming a 100% seal. Seal the subs facing forward. Make your amp rack at the back of your car.

i dont know what trunk car has been "louder" unsealed rather than sealed facing forward, but that is just my own experience.

terry brocks, alan hall, chris fish <-- 3 loudest trunks ever built.. none of which are sealed firing forward

i know for sure terry and alans aren't sealed firing forward and im like 99% sure chris fish's isn't

This isn't teeball. YOU DO NOT GET A TROPHY JUST BECAUSE YOU SHOW UP. Put the work in and then maybe get the respect when it has been earned

153.2 with 2 12's at 43 hz

I have an 06 Civic Sedan, and Im diogn sub forward sealed with port up. You're welcome to follow mine if you'd like. The link is in my signature.

I've been told by several people that port on the driver side is louder that middle or passenger, but I think at the end of the day it depends on what you're doing, competing or like me daily enjoyment, and things of that nature. Lots of variables. I shutter to think that my design isn't going to work well, only cause I've spent so much time on it, but at the same time, the only way you can figure out what your car does, is by building it in your car. Or someone with the same exact car having the different experiences.

I've personally only had sealed enclosure facing back, also out of the cubbies in the rear of the trunk facing center and those were for sq. I had an IB set up with 2 15's and they were pretty loud. I've had ported enclosure with 2 12's facing back and it was nice, but the closer the enclosure was to the rear wall/back seat the quietter it got.

All about preference though.

Ive been reading though your build log and its been extremely helpful as i dont have the car here right now to look at. So ive been looking at yours to get ideas, and i keep looking forward to your updates! Once i get going with the build i'll probably have to ask you for a couple pointers. :fing34:

Yes please do. I'll help however I can.

Also yes it's all car dependent. I was just stating what I've been told by folks who do very very very well in the lanes and build for a living. As well as some that don't. But the bottom line is it's up to the car and the environment.

I'll let you know, provided I get it hooked up, how it sounds next weekend. I'm hoping the subs will be playing by then. But I'm not getting my hopes up!
