jmanjr82 Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 Don't take this wrong, but why not try a higher line 12 and practice box building concepts on how to maximize your gain on a small scale until you feel more comfortable at tackling something more in depth such as a wall? I think a pair of X12s since you seem fairly set on the X subs you would have a damn loud setup and in the future as money depicts you could upgrade to 4-12s. It really depends on what the person wants. Some people like 18s some don't. I have heard good setups and bad setups using the same subs, honestly it really pays off in the long run to practice small scale before just jumping in balls deep on something large scale and waste time and money trying to do something they weren't really ready to do in the first place. That concept is why people get others to build their setups, because they know and understand that person they call on has done some awesome shit previously so you can rest that the shit will be done first time around. In your shoes I would rather pay someone to do it right the first time and spend as much time as possible learning everything you could from them first hand. Just a few things to contemplate on before pulling the trigger on something you may regret after the fact which sucks, because its hard to sell anything without taking a loss.

In car audio you usually upgrade frequently, you need really deep pockets to have everything redone each time you upgrade, besides your own tests are the best way to find out how you want something setup.
Stitched Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 I'd take some E-series over the X's
TortoiseShore Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Completely off topic, but can you get your system to play with any power over 40hz? Even with my level 3s and 2k I tried several different boxes and the highest I could get with any power is 45. It's like after 41/42 it drops off quick. Seems to peak in the 36-39 range, at least to the ear. Just curious.
jmanjr82 Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 Ok so your set on doing it yourself. I say start small scale and work your way up to the end product. Start with a pair of X 12s and go from there.
