Kranny
distortion/clipping = higher numbers. simply put if you literally did not have an oscilloscope or dd-1, you have absolutely no idea if the signal you were clamping/metering was clean. yeah i can probably get 2000w out of my audioque 1200, but it wont be clean. chrisw.
I'm still confused about the part where I was not accepting the answer? I asked the question, saw some videos of amps going up in fire and decided (and stated) that it wasn't worth the risk to me. A few of you are so desperate to make this something it not lol. chrisw.
We did our test. Those were our results. Whether or not anyone here believes them to be accurate is another thing but they seem consistent with the reputation of these amp. And FWIW my only reason for even mentioning the clamp test was not to brag. 1000w isn't that big a deal, but rather to explain my temptation to run the amp @ 2ohms. If I knew it'd give some of you a debate boner I would've never brought it up. There's even video I win the interwebz Rolex got the biggest e-peen of the day today back to topic, didn't read the second page, didn't need to. OP, if you don't want to call the fire department in the near future, set the amp at 4 ohms WHERE IT IS DESIGNED TO BE and call it a day. Losing a car in a fire fucking sucks. Kranny
3rd time i said this. no oscope or dd-1 = invalid results. no oscope or dd-1 = easy to clip while clamping. clipping = false numbers.
mnrookie
So you clamped it doing 983 watts at 2 ohms? That means you were running at or close to 1 ohms nominal, .5 ohm per channel. Sounds like you went wayyy below manufacturers recommendations.
