daignosing engine noise in speakers.

try running the rcas on top of the carpet temporarily to see if that helps. engine noise can also be induced into your system if your rcas are on top or near your transmission hump. also how did you set your gains? I see people all the time come in with engine noise issues and all i have to do is drop the gains. Is the noise present with the engine not running? And last question what kind of head unit are you using? Pioneer is really prone to engine noise.

the car is a front wheel drive. standard. but the gains are at half on the 60.4 i dont have the dd1 or an osciliscope to set it. i will try dropping the gains too. but is a kenwood excellon x396

Start front to back. I had this issue and tried everything your could imagine people suggesting and the solution ended up having nothing to do with the amp or routing of the rca's

The solution was to bypass the ground in the factory wiring harness for the head unit. I ran a ground from the headunit directly to the frame sanded down to bare metal. Good luck!

ok. so i got the engine noise to go away. i found that not all the ground wire in the wire harness for the head unit where not connected. so that got rid of that.

but now i have everytime it shuts off i get a popping noise.

is it possible that the wine could be induced through a speaker wire? the reason i ask is that i had my driveside speaker unhooked and it didn't have an engine noise. the wire runs over (about 2-3 inches) my zero guage wire for my amp. then my power wire is close to my speaker wires. is this a very big possiblity?

I remember when I first got into car audio on youtube I was looking up how to do installs and in lots of the videos they talked about running them on the opposites sides to reduce interference. Not sure how crucial it is for some, maybe the better the wire the lesser the need? But if you can do it maybe it can't hurt.

I was going to say that when I first bought my car I had weird noise coming through and it ended up being my spark plug wires, fixed it on accident when I changed the distributor from points and got new lower resistance wires.

Fucking love Alan you goddamned fucking super nerd lol

When Alan uses big words I don't understand

It's warming up enough that the donut-punching cyclist douchenozzles are getting their two wheeled fagmobiles out.

Everytime I see a guy driving a mini cooper I cant help but think he loves cock & (2/29/16)-My wife just bitched at me about throwing out things we don't really use. My response of well we don't really use your vagina so should we throw that out was evidently not the right response. I had to leave the room.

I missed Alan.

RIP 5/29/15 - I love you son.
