wojo1086
I plan on strapping two amps together for one of my subs. The questions are as follows: 1) Will strapping the two amps together do anything to the resistance of the sub? It is a dual 1 ohm. I know each output from the amp goes to each voice coil of the sub. 2) Will the remote gain control the gain for both amps at the same time? 3) Does each amp need to be tuned separately from the other? Or does the datalink cable do that for you? I guess I'm just not aware of exactly what data the datalink transfers between the two amps. 4) When putting one amp into slave, does it also make the output signal 180 degree shifted from the master amp? Aj11
i know the sub ohm doesn't change, each amp will see .5ohm as far as gain control the bass knob on my jls controlled both when i had them in master and slave. they weren't strapped just M\S. and my one amp controlled the others eq settings. and i don't think it would change the phase. again mine didn't. i can't say for your amp but mine didn't. jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)
n8ball2013
Wrong. Your amps will each see half of your final impedence. If you strap at 1 ohm both see .5 if you strap at .5 both will see .25. If you strap most amps will be controlled by 1 knob. phase typically doesn't shift. I don't know what amp you are using but I'd check the manual for how to properly strap them. If your manual doesn't have that info I wouldn't try it THERE IS NO BUILD LOG! 1998 Chevy Silverado ext cab Alpine CDA-9887 4 Team Fi 15s 2 Ampere Audio TFE 8.0 2 Ampere Audio 150.4 3 Digital Designs CS6.5 component sets Dual Mechman 370XP Elite alternators inbound! 8 XS Power d3400 6 XS power d680 Second Skin Stinger Tsunami Wiring Sky High A Real Voltmeter not a piece of shit stinger. Aj11
I'm wrong? he asked if it changed the ohm at the sub, i said no. and if he strapped at one ohm he would see .5 on each Amp. it will change the Load yes but not the subs jvc deck stinger 1800 front hc 2000 kinetic rear 2 runs of 1/0g big 3/4 ct 60.4 2 ct 1400.1 ct EXO 15 d1 lots of deadner type r comps front stage 6 kicker tweets rear stage lots of great stuff coming soon ho alt more bats ct comps for front stage more deadner sweet amp rack lots of L.E.D lights new deck (thinking 80 prs, or flip out)

wojo1086
Can't you wire the sub into series for a 2 ohm load so the amps each see 1 ohm?
n8ball2013
Yes you can. The amp doesn't care how you wire your woofer since it only sees the load presented. wojo1086
Right. But you just asked how you would do that.
Ahmed Johnson
You want to wire it for a 2 ohm load if you are strapping. A D1 won't make a 1 ohm load.
n8ball2013
You can't get a final impedance of 1 ohm with a dual ohm woofer. You can get .5 and 2 I'm not talking about what each amp would see. I'm talking about your final impedance presented to the amp.
