Using 4ga for an amp with 1/0 inputs?

i planned to do that with all my 2 chan amps no 4g at all all 2/0 and 1/0. the only thing with keeping the gain way down is you will always want more so if u dont have the proper self control to leave well enough alone i wouldnt even do it.

I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.

Yea, he wants to keep in the 2200, until he gets the 1/0 but I'm gonna tell him its a bad idea.

Can you yes, should you no.

The issue IMO isn't the amp it's the fact that 4 gauge wire is roughly 150 amp current draw capable. Now on music daily I couldn't see the amp pulling more them the wire can handle. If it's fused directly (fir the amperage current rating of the wire as stated by manufacturer) then the worst thing that would happen is a blown fuse. If there is no fuse you could easily end up with a fire.

Now as for the amp, if your not drooping to low of voltage and it's not getting to hot to touch I would say it's safe but not wise because the above reason.

Simply put the write will bit like 200+ amps of draw and could go up in flames with improper fusing.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
