oldsoundguy Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 Maybe you can try it and tell us how it goes. Being serious. I was thinking of wiring my HDC 3 12s to .25 on my CT 2500. Not to run daily but just to see if it can take it. I would put connections on my box so I can switch it up. Not sure how much difference it would make to the ear but maybe the meter. I guess if it couldn't it should go into protect. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

Rudemaxxx Posted March 9, 2014 Author Report Posted March 9, 2014 I've really been thinking about doing it. I know they're stable at .5 ohms for daily use but i was just curious how stable they are at .25 ohms. I'll give it a try for sure. CleanSierra Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 Which subs would think about doing this to? Reason I'm asking is because if you smoke the amp, you may take out the subs in the process Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
SnowDrifter Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 I swear I should have this saved somewhere so I can copy/paste it Any time you run below the manufacturer's ratings, you are opening up the risk of breaking stuff. You might get more power, yes. But you also might break it. YOU need to decide if the risk/reward is tolerable. There is a very real chance it can break, you need to figure out if you can accept that. Please be safe though - fuses, fire extinguisher, and tools to disconnect your wiring should be in any basshead's car at all times. oldsoundguy Posted March 9, 2014 Report Posted March 9, 2014 Even if you wire it to .25 is the amp really going to see .25 with box rise and such? really want to know. Same as just because Steve puts an amp on the dyno are your subs really going to see that power? 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

I'm not going to do it, I honestly have no need to do so right now and I can't afford to break my equipment. I'm just kindof curious. Thanks for the answers guys!
