oldsoundguy Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 I have a ct sounds 125.4 and a set of RE audio xxx 6.5 components running the passive crossover. So my question is to those who have done it would it sound louder and better if I purchased another set of components and run the passive with the other two channels OR run the one set active off of the amp using all four channels for the mids and highs? Or is it that it would be louder with another set but sound better running active? Just trying to make a decision on what to do. I know what I should do is hook them up active right now and see if it sounds better but just wanted to know what others have experienced. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
hdorre Posted March 12, 2014 Report Posted March 12, 2014 2 sets would be louder than one set. Sure, the xovers aren't 100% efficient.. but you'll have double the cone area, motor force, etc.. Besides, do you know what all goes into properly tuning an active setup? To answer your question honestly,,, NO I don't know what all goes into it. What I was going to do is set the crossovers with my CC-1 for the mids and highs, then use the HU for the cut off on the mids. Run the tweets crossed at 3500hz and the mids to 2800hz on the amp and cut of at 80hz on the amp. I really don't know shit about this or if this would work. 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/

oldsoundguy Posted April 16, 2014 Author Report Posted April 16, 2014 I did purchase another component set of REs So my sub amp is going back again and all I have been listening to the last month is just one set of REs and all I can say is these do hit the lows. Its amazing how good they sound all by them self. I need to get off my ass and get the other set installed. Might not need a sub after that,,,, UUMM NAWWW J/K 80prs Arc Audio Xdi 1200.6 (using active crossovers) Freaking awesome amplifier Incriminator IA 10.1 Focal PS 130v 5.25 (doors) 4" Faital pro Neo (kick panels) 3" Faital pro Neo and focal tweets( dash) DC Audio level 3 12" custom box designed by joex built by me AGM front, XS 750SE batteries rear DC 180 alt 99 Toyota Tacoma extra cab http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/179476-my-small-build-turned-into-the-ongoing-build/
