SnowDrifter
I am *this* close to putting the following in my sig Any time you run below the manufacturer's specifications, you open the risk of equipment damage, vehicular damage, and personal injury. YOU need to decide if these risks are worth the gain. None of us can say for you. It's a gamble. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
SnowDrifter
And if anyone says yes you are safe to run outside of the manufacturer's specs: that person should be prepared to assume responsibility for, and pay for all potential damages ~~~~~~~~SAY NO TO PHOTOBUCKET~~~~~~~~ Snow's DD-1 tracks here: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/167433-snows-dd-1-tracks/ My take on OFC vs CCA: https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/110381-things-that-piss-you-off-in-the-car-audio-world/?do=findComment&comment=2461444
Facekicker
My .02 I did it for a minute with a Zeus 3000. Not sure how different the Brutus and Zeus lines are. Zeus is still fine but been at 1 ohm for the last while. edit apparently the Brutus is supposed to be the superior line for HF so I don't think you'll have a problem unless it's real hot out and they're baking. 2002 Monte Carlo Started a build log Fi, DC, Mechman, XS Power

Guest
The parts used in hifonics are not built to tolerate that kind of impedance daily Wear and tear is happening and eventually you will see fire However with box rise and other factors, are you sure you're really presenting those amps with a .5ohm impedance? On a side note hifonics is known to put out a dirty signal at rated and be very power hungry I imagine you are multiplying these issues by running that low My advice is to sell the hifonics on craigslist and find a good used amp out there Them hifonics amps are probably making your hd's laugh, they can take much more. goodluck and if you decide to keep on with what you're doing get one of these
