tbeats
Ok my amp is a sundown saz 1200d my bass knob is a gain control not a boost knob... Should I set the gain with it half way or maxed out?
cubs_fan0718
I believe in the manual its says to set it where you think you would normally have it, then tune. EDIT: from the book: If you have a bass boost knob or level control knob, set them to the middle of their range. This will allow a slight adjustment up or down t o preference after the gain is set. RooTxBeeR
I did mine with the engine on. The way I see it, your car is off, approx. 12.6-13.0v on the battery. You set the gain. Now you go and turn your car on. Now it is running at around 14v-14.6v meaning it well make more power compared to where it was just at, and thus possibly creating clipped signal. Am I wrong here? It only seems logical to me. I have had my system like this for ever and have never had ANY problems. 4 Quote On 11/20/2012 at 8:54 PM, AMI CUSTOMS said: Turned mine up today at a light, guy next to me his steering wheel started moving and he looked over at me like I was a magician lol. OrionStang
Rootbeer, I agree with engine on. But SMD recommends setting with engine off to cover their ass. Why wouldn't you set it how you run it? Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
FknCrawler
Put your knob on max/full that way when you tune your unable to go above the safe zone. Quote 1992 Honda Civic CX Hatchback K24a2 Swap

Why wouldn't you set it how you run it? I just read the manual, and unless I am blind or retarded. I didn't find anywhere saying to set with the car off. And exactly. Why wouldn't you tune it how you would have it while listening. That is like buying a car, paying somene to retune the engine to perform best on 101octane fuel. Then only running it on regular. OrionStang
Don't think its in the manual, but there was a similar thread where it was recommended to set gain with engine off. Doesn't make sense. Quote SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
