Stock alt @ idle held a higher voltage then my rebuilt alternator.....

Ok so my stock alternator was only 80 amps. at idle (800-900rpms) it always would hold a voltage of 14+volts on my Stinger volt meter ( wired @ the amp ). I had a local guy put a 170 amp stator, new brushes, and bearings and he also cleaned the case up. He bench tested 148 amps @1100 rpms but at idle on this one im only holding about 12.5 maybe 12.8V. I know its holding way better then stock at higher rpms because I set my HU and gains with the DD1, @ full tilt holds 13.5V + @ about 1200 rpm. It just seems odd my voltage is so low at idle now. Anyone have any ideas?

That's the trade off you get with the crap stock rebuilt ones. Get a better one.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.

If you don't want to purchase the higher end alternators, you can slap on a smaller pulley, get a smaller belt for grip, and you should be fine so long as you don't go redlining it all day.

Get what you pay for.

If you want an HO alt, buy one.

I contacted Mechman and Stinger they weren't able to help me... Its better then stock, it should be a upgrade.
