Need help with a box design

Recommended Posts

I want to try out a different box and I would like some help with a design, last time I payed for a design and I really don't see the need to spend that kind of money!

I have 2 Rockford Hx2 12's that have 1000 watt recones so I'll be running 2000 RMS in my Jeep Cherokee.

All I listen to is decaf music and I love the lows so I want to get a box that can play as far below 30hz as I can get. My current box plays from 30hz to about 70hz so I want to try to get lower this time, hopefully not sacrificing too much of my high end.

So any help would be appreciated, Thanks!

I have two options if the first size it too small there is some more room.

With out doing anything other than replacing my current box the maximum dimensions are 39" wide 18" deep and 18" tall.

Removing my spare tire and changing the amp rack, I can get up to 42" wide 22" deep and 18" tall.

I want either design to be 18" tall so that it meets the window line.

I am thinking a ported box with the subs up firing.

Ported for sure those subs like ports. If the recone keeps it close to original specs then I'd suggest 2.25-2.5cuft per sub. A good musical tuning freq is around 33-35hz. With proper port area you should get a good freq response.

singer alt, tons of wiring, smd vm-1, 80prs, back seat delete, still in the works, aiming for a 145-147 with the ability to play 25hz up to 50hz.
