Hey guys have just been wondering. If say I have my amp set at 1/2 (point of clipping) and my electrical isn't upgraded yet, then I do the big 3, upgrade to 0 gauge and an extra battery or so, do I need to turn down the gain cause the amp will be producing more??

amp gain is matched to the preout voltage coming from the headunit rca's.

Gain should be set independent of battery/alternator power so I don't believe it will affect anything if your gain was set properly to the maximum point of no clipping

Got a battery with no amp rating labelled but I have just confirmed that it is a 70amp battery and my alternator has 90 amp output. So that is 160 total amps, I just need to know what my cars electrical gets from the alt and the battery then I can choose my additional battery. Thanks

get the biggest that can in the stock location that your budget can afford. That's standard practice around here. Depending on your system goals, total amp draw you may be able to get away with less, maybe more if you have big goals though.

CURRENT SYSTEM:

  • Alternator:
    1. Stock alt on mids/highs
    2. Isolated DC Power 270 SP - Charging @ 16.8v
  • Batteries: (2) XS D1400s
  • Power Cable: Double Runs of 1/0 KNU Kolossus Fleks
  • Headunit: 80-PRS
  • Sub Amp: DC 5.0k
  • Subwoofers: 2 RE MT 15s /PSI dual .7ohm recones
  • Subwoofer Enclosure: 9.1cubes @ 32hz - brutal.
  • Mids & Highs Amp: CT125.4
  • Active Components:
    • Mids RE XXX 6.5c
    • Highs - 3 RE XXX tweeters per side(A pillar)
  • Noise Control: Damplifier Pro all over the cab.
