Tips for a first time competitor?

This is the first time I've done a full system all by myself, I've had many little systems, but a buddy of mine always did them. Wellnext Friday I'm going to a competition in Sedalia, Mo and this will be my first time competing..

I have 2 Sundown SA 15's on a Hifonics BRX2000D, and got miced this morning to see what I was doing and did a 145.4 @ 44Hz in my 97 Explorer.

Just wondering some last little things I could try to do to be ready to the competition and maybe get a little bit of a higher number..

Yeah I wish I had better access to be on a meter to test many different things, but the closest shop the dude isn't big on metering other people unless they are using DD

Without access to meter its impossible to really improve. Sethings might hurt you, some things might gain huge and youll never know.

Go to the show early as early as possible. Ask the judge of you could use the meter to test explain its your first show etc, most will likely help you out.

Setup:

Invest in a meter. I did and I don't compete, as of yet anyways. First time will be the 1st for me. In my trailblazer I messed around with the visors, took the floor mats out, opened the center console, made sure everything was empty also. But every vehicle, system, weather and other factors can change things. What works for some may hurt others in their score. Having your own meter allows you to change things up and move things around in the vehicle to so you can find that sweet spot. If you ever come to DE/Philly area you can always let me know and we can put your car on a meter all day. I'm willing to help anyone out, but I'm not sending it to you lol.

Good luck. 145 doesn't seem too bad. I hit a 150 but that was with 2 level 5 15s and 2 5K's.

And I would recommend you PAY ATTENTION! Don't worry about highest possible numbers at the first show, gotta have some room to improve later. LOL. I think it would be best to just watch and learn. Learn what to do and proper etiquette for your turn. Everyone expects the new guy to slow things up a bit, but you don't need to look like a total noob either! Have fun!

Several systems, several vehicles. Always changing!
