poorfish88 Posted May 18, 2014 Report Posted May 18, 2014 What car? Maybe you have a newer Honda with Dual Charging system or as better known as ELD. Who knows.
bassbang89 Posted May 18, 2014 Author Report Posted May 18, 2014 It is a 2000 Saturn sl1 plug is in correctly have yet to upgrade power wire to batt yet though BASS_BANG
Jhunt94 Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 I made the same mistake with my alternator and the problem was that I when I upgraded all of my wiring I had disconnect the stock positive wire which had a smaller wire spliced into it that connected into the plug on the alternator. That wire tells the alternator what the voltage on the battery is and since it was disconnected the alternator would never turn on until I hooked it back up. Not saying that this is your problem but it sounds very similar. Just saw where you said you haven't upgraded the wiring. It still sounds like it may be something to do with the plug or the wire that I mentioned. If you have an ohm meter you could disconnect the stock positive wire from the battery and the alternator and check to see if you have a circuit through the wire and check from one end of the wire to the end of the smaller wire on the bottom of the plug to make sure that the alternator is seeing the voltage from the battery. 2007 Ford F-150 Reg. Kyblack76 Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 ^^ Its not even turning on. 12v isnt the eld, that, is not charging at all/turning on. Does it turn on at a higher REV ? It does sound like your not exciting it, in any way shape or form.... SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold
Lbox88 Posted May 19, 2014 Report Posted May 19, 2014 Another thing you can try, with car running, check the alt voltage at the positive and case of the alt with a multimeter. If you have charging voltage there, it's a loose/dirty/disconnected wire. Make sure the plug is clean, free from oxidation, and tight. UBL | Build Log
