Sooo we had LADDER training today in my FD rookie class

Recommended Posts

Dope, shit looks like fun. I recently tried out for my local FD. In our test we simply had to climb a step ladder from the ground to the top of the department and some people couldn't even handle that lol. They would insta freeze on that big bad boy. Thing I want to just point out most never realize. I found it really funny all the time people talk about cost of vehicles, this cars 100k oh this one is 200k. That fire truck right there will start at 500k, them bitches aint cheap!

I'll admit, half way through sanding that fiberglass in the rain and cold while I was all itchy I was definitely starting to question why i was doing this haha

Nice.

We were required to climb our tower at its maximum height. Was a pretty cool experience. Our instuctor made us do a leg lock with full gear and lean backwards and flap our hands like a bird. LOL. Talk about nerve wrecking.

yep had to do that too, was really hard for me and a size 14 boot to get into the lock postition, but i did it. Hardest thing all day was bringing down a unconcious patient down a ladder... Using my knee planted into the persons ass and going down 1 rung at a time... SUCKED.

I love my staffie :good:

So anti FACEBOOK it isn't even funny

That's how I got over my fear of heights. I still hope to one day get on at a paid department, but that almost 100% means moving away from my current area. Closest full time paid department is over an hour.
