BRodgers
Hey Guys! I need some help... I've ordered Two American Bass XFL 12's which should be here by the end of next week. I've been working on this box and It's supposed to be roughly 4cubes tuned to 33 hz. Using the torres software I had everything tuned the way I wanted it but I think my port is wrong. I've noticed that on some photos the port is measured using the distance in the middle of the port around the corner. I needed a 26" port to tune my box at 33 hz so I made the first part of the port 20.75" and the second part 3.75" which is 25.25" and that butts up to the front panel of my enclosure which is 3/4" giving me a total of 26" port length. But, if I measure the center of the port, it's like 33" or something. This is my first enclosure and I really have no idea what I'm doing so somebody please tell me that It's correct and that I don't have to start over =) !!! Here's the pictures.. http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy8/FadedSpy/box02_zps5e09a64a.jpg http://i772.photobucket.com/albums/yy8/FadedSpy/box01_zps8d406def.jpg The box dimesnsions.... Height = 13" Width = 34" Depth = 28" Port Width = 5" Port Board #1 = 20.75" Port Board #2 = 3.75" I maintained the 5" port through the bend as I'm told that's the way it's supposed to be done. If I'm leaving any information out please let me know. I really hope this thing is tuned to 33hz. I believe the subs total displacement for the 2 of them will be .26 Also, If I add another sheet of 3/4" MDF to the front panel, it will extend my port another 3/4" and affect the displacement I believe. I'm not sure if the extra front panel is necessary but it seems almost every box picture I see has a double front panel. So I wanted to bring it up before I screw/glew/silicone the top onto my box 2001 Dodge Intrepid R/T 2 American Bass XFL 12's American Bass VFL 150.1 Exide Group 31 AGM Big 3 1/0 Bullz Audio

BRodgers
So if I bust off the turn piece and shorten it 3.5" I should be closer to target area? Maybe 30 hz is ok? 2001 Dodge Intrepid R/T 2 American Bass XFL 12's American Bass VFL 150.1 Exide Group 31 AGM Big 3 1/0 Bullz Audio
CleanSierra
You won't notice a difference with a 3 Hz change. Not by eat, not on a meter likely either. Keep it the way it is. Im not the one you want to try to troll. Just a fyi for you.
Joe X
Thanks! Any idea how I can get it to 33 hz? The easy way is asking before building unhappily, you could make a MDF "brick" or something like that to take out net volume and up tuning or even rebuilding the port. BRodgers
Well, I put my tape measurer at the end of the back port baffle and ran it around the corner to the front of the box and that length is 26" which is what torres showed me would be at 33hz Here is the picture of Torres with my calculations entered...I guess I input some things wrong? timc31610
Box doesn't look bad, one suggestion though, try to make the baffle piece on the outer part of the box. It adds quite a bit of strength to the baffle. Hope that makes sense...lol My Build Log 94 Civic http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/188644-94-civic-4-door-build-loq-suggestions-wanted-will-be-super-slow-mo/ Faceebook reluctantly
