Im gonna make a box for my skar zvx15 and im hitting a speed bump in calculations.. heres what I got

30"wide

17"deep

18"high

3/4wood thickness

My probl3m is the port im trying as hard as I can to get it closest to 3ft^ and tuned to about 33hz .

But the port calculator keeps telling me I need a 30" long port is this right? I figured at 4.21ft^ it needs a 4"wide port 16.5"high but im getting 30" for length?

After port and driver displacement it would put me at 2.8ft^ net but I think a 30" long port would tune it way too low

Id rather just build it right instead of adding polyfill..any input as far as whats the correct enclosure?

I checked your numbers. With your external dimensions your gross internal volume is 4.218 cu ft, a 16.5" x 4" port is going to remove about 1.3 cubes, plus another .15 or so for driver displacement puts you at around 2.75 cu ft net. With a 30" long port you are going to be tuned to close to 37 Hz.

Thats retarded am I right? I knew this calculator wasnt calculating right..so it looks like youre pretty good with calculations. If I do a 3" slot port instead I figure around 22-23" port length will tune me around 38hz right? So how much longer does the port need to be in order to be tuned at 33-34hz?.

So here is a suggestion, power: to subs rated, amp subsonic filter to 28Hz, port clearance 3 3/4", figure is just an assembly guide:

If can't go bigger and use Joe X's design, try switching to a single 6" aero it will give you the lower tuning you want.
