Kyblack76
Gurus, How much does port (size, area, and such) play in driver/coil/motor cooling? Does it play a HUGE roll? or meh ? Teach a fool....... and TIA. kyle SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold

Karkov
Thanks Kyle, interesting thread. I wonder if anyone has tested temperatures though. You would need the exact same sub(s) and then change enclosures and use the exact same amp and continue to test temperatures. If subs don't burn up in sealed enclosures I think you're good..... Bump4life
i am sure it plays a role in cooling. earlier this year when i was really beating my subs in the winter (2 z95 12s) my port was blowing warm air. i was cooking them. In my opinion a larger port would mean more cool air gooing in and hot air coming out. the reason to invert subs is to help cooling. a larger port would have a similiar effect. Kyblack76
Some sort of pressure, back pressure wouldn't help some? When free airing a driver, does it get hot faster? Hmmmmmmm This may get a lil fun. SMD SUPER SELLER The Burban Build Blazer Build sold Acura trunk build sold

Hmmmmmmm This may get a lil fun. obviously there is an ideal box for a specific driver. so you cant go out of a range of acceptable enclosures. but if you were at the larger end of acceptasble port sizes i would think it would help Buyer/Seller Feedback Thread: http://www.stevemead...5015-bump4life/ MB C220 153 Trunk Car Build Log: http://www.stevemead...d/#entry1840136 MB C280 Ipad Dash SQ Build Log: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/194484-bump4lifes-new-benz-tony-c-relay-kit-pictures-ce-electric-audison-front-stage-installed/ My SPL Log: http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 BMW M340 xDrive Stock, for now. When Kevin was banging on his van at AR, the air coming from his port was hot. I took that ass GOOD. That told me, his drivers cooling design. Was working like a boss. Not that it was bad, but good in fact. I'm with ya (edit. Fucking phone ) though. There is a good and bad LINE I'm sure. timc31610
Where could a temp probe be attached to get an accurate reading for proper testing? Wicks
Good question Here's a thought... With more port, the subs can breathe better and therefore have less impedance rise = more power delivered to them. A smaller port gives more impedance rise = less power...
