Just take it as a learning lesson and move on. No reason keep sideways taking shots at Fi cause you screwed up. Also just like many others that have come here asking why they blew their sub or amp, I'm sure there's more that's not being told. gr8handogoatness Posted June 11, 2014 Report Share Posted June 11, 2014 One more question I had that hasn't been asked yet, what head unit are you running? What is the preout voltage? If it's 4 or if it's a processor at 6 or 8 volts then running at half gain probably gave you a straight up square wave. Plus you factor in huge voltage drop and you've got a couple thousand watts of alternating DC voltage. It would have fried the coils quick. Even a fi can't handle that. I maintain that extreme clipping killed it. Sorry to not wait for your answer but I think even at 2 volts preout given your electrical would smoke it. I'm not trying to beat a dead horse here and make you feel dumb or anything just saying that even a good sub that has no defect wouldn't hold up so claiming that it did (again not getting on your case) would be irrelevant at this point. I won't say one way or the other because I don't know nor have anyway of knowing if it was defective. Point in trying to make is either way I think I would have blown.
