RooTxBeeR
So I have a box I am building this weeken. 8cuft net with 4 4" areo's 14.75" long. Subs up port back in a 04 ford escape. My question is, is there any real differences in port orientation. Like all a single line, in a diamon, or even a square. Will be 2 15's in this box if that makes any type of difference. timc31610
I would think not as long as you consider a few things. Port clearance to the hatch, you want at a minimum the the have distance from your port to your hatch if not more. Next is ensure you aren't too close to any of the ports with your subs to prevent any unloading that may occur. RooTxBeeR
clearance to the hatch is fine. Triticum Agricolam
Port area could be on the low side, what subs and how much power? Cj Kumz
^^x2. You have a 8 cube box with an area of 50 sq inches that gives you 6.2 sq inches per cube and the general rule is 8-12 sq inches per cube. So like triticum said, you on the lower side and you might get port noise. RooTxBeeR
The subs are not crazy subs and don't require to much. Along with that, I don't want a peaky box, I want musical bandwidth. The subs are two skar IVX 15's on RMS power. But I made this topic about port orientation not whether or not it's right or wrong with what I am using. I will take unloading into account when placing my ports. 4 6in ports ftw. Im running 16sq in/cube for 1 15 and it loves it.
