Test: 2 Kicker Cvr 15s

Recommended Posts

Derrick, what where your thoughts on how they sounded with music?

That's a tough one. See I'm used to listening to a trio of 18s tuned to 32hz for some serious deep ground pounding bass. That kinda effects how I judge other setups now. These 15s had no problem playing music in this setup, but I just can't say that they sounded good because they're no where near what I'm used to.

I dunno if those numbers are "crazy" but "good" that is for sure.

2 15's in an SUV, that's tough cuz of all that air to compress, so that's impressive...

That's more juice than I thought they could take.

I ran 2 of the older 15's sealed and did a lil over 140db TL (146 on a/c 160) w/ about 300rms total (2 rear channels of a SS ref604) in a hatchback (Integra) but yea lots less air to compress.

Nice work and some good info.

I would like to see what they do in the Altima...you're gonna do that one next right?

They handled the all the burps (and they were a lot) just fine without getting warm or any smell. After around 1min+ of music at full tilt they did start to have a slight smell but it wasn't even bad enough to fill the truck.

We already did some testing in the Altima. Same box, subs, and amp hit a 145.5, sealed w/ mic on the windshield, subs up ports forward. We turned the box around for ports back and dropped to a 144.1.

I'm gonna play around with the tuning in the Explorer today. There are a few more tenths in this setup.
