Planning on using birch to make my box to cut down on some weight. I'm assuming everybody uses birch plywood or is there a birch fiberboard available out there?

on another note, where do you buy your plexiglass at? My local home depot doesn't carry it lol.

and what are some good ideas for reinforcement inside the box besides 45's and fiberglass? Looking for something that is strong but won't cause too much displacement inside my box.

edit: forgot to ask where to buy led strings like what big Steve just used on his plexi for the Polaris??

I get my fiberglassing stuff at uscomposites

Meade gets his LEDs from Oznium.com I believe

And threaded rod is a pretty popular method of bracing boxes

750??! Yeah, fuck that. Fuck this website, fuck SMD, fuck Steve, fuck all of his butt buddy mods, and their couches.

Krakin, are you some sort of mad scientist?

I would have replied earlier, but I was measuring the output of my amp with a yardstick . . .

What you hear is not the air pressure variation in itself

but what has drawn your attention

in the two streams of superimposed air pressure variations at your eardrums

thus no formula can achieve a definite effect for every listener.

Check with your local automotive paint stores for fiberglass supplies. I buy layup resin in 5 gallon buckets and MEKP in gallons at Paul Lashley Supply. It's a lot less expensive than Bondo resin at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Lights... Amazon.

Braces... allthread or small wave guides (depending on location in the box) and there's no real substitute for strengthening corners with chop mat and resin.

So I been trying to find 13 ply Baltic birch all morning now and all my local lumberyards discontinued the product, most for many years now. They can all special order it for a not so special price and a 4-6 week wait. Any other options I should consider that will cut down on weight as compared to mdf and not break the bank so bad? I'm ok spending up to $70-$80/sheet, but $110 for special order Baltic birch, no thanks.

For plexi, estreetplastics.com for sure. I got a 9"x18"x.75" piece for $20. They have a bunch of sizes too.

Bracing, can do wooden dowels, allthread, window braces, triangle pieces with holes cut in them, there's a bunch of stuff.

For lights, any 12V lights. There are literally thousands on eBay and Amazon.

"Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand.
