I've got to run and I know I should research before I ask these questions, but I was hoping some of you might give me a little insight on these... The prices seem really good, especially for someone that has a regulated alternator. It appears I can get rated power at 13.4 volts? Looking at the HD5000.... gckless Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 ^^Yep, what he said. They're not like Koreans, you don't need to wire below rated to make power, and you should not, they don't like it. You need to have strong electrical to run them or they like to go poof. Based on your sig, you would need to beef up your electrical if you wanted to run that 5k all out. Do a search, there's been a couple tests. There's one here, and I know TFade threw one up on MAF. "Clipping" is the biggest forum boner now. It's like witchcraft... it automatically explains just about everything people don't understand. Power hungry? Not sure if srs Efficiency? ha these amps are running laps around that Considering I can run a Taramps 3k on a stock 150a alt, with a 65ah agm under hood and 1/0 welding cable, I'd say power hungry is incorrect

dharris2488 Posted July 15, 2014 Author Report Posted July 15, 2014 So, I need to update my sig. as i have beefed up my electrical a bit. Right now I have the 240amp Mechman and (3) 70ah AGM's (total 210ah, like that math? lol), and 2 runs of + 1/0 welding cable from front to back. To run the 5K, would it be suggested that one more battery be enough? I'm currently running strapped Q2200's and on long bass drops, I've seen my voltage drop to 12.0. Would one more battery be good enough for the 5K? If not, I need to figure out a way to stabilize my voltage. Are UltraCap's the answer, or am I going down the wrong road? Ahmed Johnson Posted July 15, 2014 Report Posted July 15, 2014 To be honest, you shouldn't have that bad of a drop with all your equipment. You might want to check a few things out before getting another amp.
