Syphlyn
Hey guys my DD1 is on it's way and should be here by Saturday and I just have a couple questions. I was looking through this guide: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/96978-test-tones-and-tuning-tutorial-all-new-links-again/ 1) When figuring out my max HU volume do you use a lower amplitude tone like 1000hz -5db and then the 40hz -5db. Or is it best to use the 0db tones? 2) If I set my HU using -5db tones (40hz and 1000hz) do I have to use -5db tones to set the amps properly? If it's best to use 0db for the HU can I use the -5b tones for the sub amp and highs amp? 3) When doing the HU can I just connect the RCAs from the head units preouts into the DD1 or is it best to go through the amp as it's described in the manual? Will both achieve the same thing? - I mean the RCAs that would plug into my amp just plug into the DD1. Thanks guys just wanna make sure I'm doing it right!!! Noel989
1) use 0 db tone 2) on the amps you can use 0,-5, or -10 Just depends on amp and speaker combo and how hard you want to push it 3) can't help you their as I've only done it through the amp Build Log - http://www.stevemead...-cruiser-el-pt/

Will that be a good way or do I do both on the mids/highs amp? But here's one I can seem to understand from the manual. When setting my head unit can I just plug one of the RCAs from my HU into the SMD DD1 directly? Does it matter which one? Ones red and ones white. GSanders17
Yes you can just use one rca from the headunit to find where the deck distorts. In my experience the right one usually works but may not always be the case.

In my experience the right one usually works but may not always be the case. I have a PAC-LC1 hooked up (well going to). So I'll have the RCAs from my HU plugged into that and then another set of RCAs coming out of the PAC-LC1 can I attach the DD1 to those as I want to incorporate the PAC-LC1 while tuning. My plan is to have it cranked so I can't go above the way I set it, I just want a way to lower the volume if needed. MrSkippyJ
Set the HU first, then the PAC lc1, then the amps.
