TanTin Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 I recently installed a sub in to a 2000 Firebird. The amp powers on but no sound to sub. I did the usual like checking the rcas, power and Ground wire. The amp worked fine on the bench with the same sub that's in the car now. But the strange thing is that if I hook the amp up to its own battery I will work fine but as soon as I use the cars batt It stops, I all ready tried swapping batts and that didn't help. I'm not new to car audio, but this one has me stump. Any input in appreciated.

Scalian Posted July 27, 2014 Report Posted July 27, 2014 First thing that comes to my mind is that you have a bad ground. So when you hook directly to a battery problem goes away. I would use a multimeter and make sure you have a good ground.
