philrab Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 Like one of the tinsel leads broke. You have a dead coil. Throws off your ohm load, sub will not play to it's full potential, ect. Any chance its in a spot where you can fix it? 2015 Toyota Tacoma Build Thread 2007 Mazda 3; 5000K HID's, Kenwood Excelon KDC-X997, Infinity Reference 6.5 comps in front and coaxials in the rear doors, JL 320.4 four channel, Rab Designs built ported enclosure with an SA12, Kenwood monoblock, Redline Leater shift boot/e-brake boot/center console cover, JBR short shifter/shifter bushings/rear motor mount. Weigel21 Posted August 17, 2014 Report Posted August 17, 2014 Your (lets say, 1000RMS DVC 4 ohm) sub is now a SVC 500RMS sub and most of the T/S Parameters of the sub will change.

OrionStang Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 Contact American Bass. Maybe they can help. If not, just bang on the one good coil. Won't hurt anything. SMD Super Seller My Feedback Thread
biscuitownz Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 To answer your question. No it's not bad, you just won't be getting the full potential out of the sub.

REH Posted August 18, 2014 Report Posted August 18, 2014 15 year old, dual 6 ohm coils, ripped spiders and a torn tinsel? Instead of using/repairing I'd just put it up and keep it as a little treasure from the past honestly and find a replacement to use. While banging on the replacement you can search all cracks and corners of the web and hunt for the parts to fix it up if you want, but I doubt that'll be a quick process.
