Go-N-Def Posted September 21, 2014 Report Posted September 21, 2014 I'd like to know is this something that is not recommended. It seems to me that using more then two subs will create an odd ohm load. Who's all doing this? Yo dog i heard you like boxes. so i put a box inside a box so you can bass while you FAIL
SlamminBeats Posted September 21, 2014 Report Posted September 21, 2014 i had 8 subs on one amp. i must have been doing it wrong what ohm load are you looking for in the end and how many subs?
Triticum Agricolam Posted September 21, 2014 Report Posted September 21, 2014 There is nothing wrong with it as long as you have put some thought behind what you are trying to accomplish. Go-N-Def Posted September 21, 2014 Author Report Posted September 21, 2014 Nothing specific I just don't wanna damage the amp. Im looking at 3-12's atm but feel safe doing a single sub. Yo dog i heard you like boxes. so i put a box inside a box so you can bass while you FAIL
Go-N-Def Posted September 21, 2014 Author Report Posted September 21, 2014 The amps says 1ohm stable or 2ohm. Shouldn't we try to stay near there. Yo dog i heard you like boxes. so i put a box inside a box so you can bass while you FAIL
Go-N-Def Posted September 21, 2014 Author Report Posted September 21, 2014 It all started after seeing a video where someone had a 7k amp and 15+/- sa8's. Id like to know what happens when you add more subs then what would give you the load you need. Yo dog i heard you like boxes. so i put a box inside a box so you can bass while you FAIL

Go-N-Def Posted September 21, 2014 Author Report Posted September 21, 2014 Woofers come with set impedance so how can you get something like 6 subs to read close to what your amp is recommended for. Is there a formula or a way ppl go about this. I can't see someone just wiring up a bunch of subs with no idea what the amp is seeing. At least not on the SMD. Yo dog i heard you like boxes. so i put a box inside a box so you can bass while you FAIL
reedal Posted September 21, 2014 Report Posted September 21, 2014 You're right, you dont just throw wires together, unless you dont care. You can wire the subs together in series (formula is adding up each impedance for total), wire in parallel (1/Rtotal = 1/Ra +1/Rb....) Or series parallel, where you get the parallel total first, then add it to the woofer it's wired in series with. If you want a better explanation, google resistance formulas, or just use www.the12volt.com for an easy wiring diagram to give you the impedance you want SMD Tool Map https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/193176-smd-tool-map-new-november-2014/ Build log https://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/197217-reeds-03-tahoe-hat-sqaq-singer-xs-shca-cockbox-80prs/?page=32
Tecomah Posted September 21, 2014 Report Posted September 21, 2014 At one point I had sixteen subs on one amp. Lots of math. 750??! Yeah, fuck that. Fuck this website, fuck SMD, fuck Steve, fuck all of his butt buddy mods, and their couches.^ DON'T BE A DICK LIKE THIS GUY Team Subsonic Lows
