meade916
Nice crimper! Way stronger then a soldered connection So Im gonna guess since you got this crimper your gonna redo all your power wire and all that? Also, I wanna see video proof of them DDs clamped on your new metter!!! it is a nice crimper but if you know how to solder CORRECTLY its not going to be stronger. Id like to see a pull test between one of my soldered connections verse something that was just crimped. IMO- PROPER Soldering>Crimping Solering AND Crimping FTW though..... DHFHades
it is a nice crimper but if you know how to solder CORRECTLY its not going to be stronger. Id like to see a pull test between one of my soldered connections verse something that was just crimped. IMO- PROPER Soldering>Crimping Solering AND Crimping FTW though..... I actually went to school for electronics assembly, and when we were tested on our solder joints the wire had to break before the joint or you failed that one so no crimp in the world is stonger than a proper solder joint 1990 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 Pioneer DEH-P2900MP, Big 3 done in 1/0, 1 run 1/0 ran to amp DAT HF1000.1 #007 powering a DC lvl4 15 DAT HR 4085 prototype powering 2 Selenium 6s and 2 no name tweeters running active 1st place in AS3 @ Surf City Sound Off, 140.8 @ 45hz @ the headrest. rebuild coming soon to get a better score "I regard the brain as a computer which will stop working when its components fail. Boon
so no crimp in the world is stonger than a proper solder joint Eeeh not the thread-jack but I disagree. Soldering is, well, soldering. You're just melting some crappy alloy around the wire. A proper crimp done with a hydro crimper like Charger's will achieve what is called a cold weld, where the metals actually fuse completely. If you cut open a properly crimped lug you will find the strands of the cable have turned into a solid lump of copper. The final result is exactly the same as if you had heated the metals to melting point and allowed them to cool again, just like regular welding. If you think soldering is stronger than welding... http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/public/style_emoticons/default/01nocomment8so.gif 10.x volts fo' life! Charger
Copper to copper, one of the best connections available. Full 360degrees around the wire connection, I'd be comfortable towing my car up hill with my joint Previous 150+ daily rides: Volvo 240 wagon 2 x DD Audio 9915s walled, Isuzu Trooper 6 x DD Audio 3515s walled clamshell, Lexus LX470 2 x Kicked Solo X 18s, Lexus LS400 4 x American Bass HD18 walled SMD - System of The Month August 2008 My Youtube Videos
